Hmmmmm.............?

Striker Shane Long has also been linked with a £3million move to St James' Park and Birmingham City are also said to be interested in his services.

I'd snap their hands off if true...

That's Exeter City, m8, no Newcastle.

The biggest MUST if we are to launch a promotion challenge is to keep our midfield of Tabb, Howard, Sig, Jobi and Kebe together IMO.

Strikers will come and go but the Link up play of those 5 is awesome at the moment.

Church, Pittman, Hunt, Bignall. Would be fine for strikers next year if Long goes and Pittman comes in also IMO.

We were assured last summer that we would not have to sell this summer.

Always defended JM on here. Sell our best players this summer though and you have to wonder where this club is going...

We wouldn't have a choice about selling if offers did come in for Sigurdson. If he wants to go, then he can leave. Trying to stop him wouldn't work. Players have agents these days.

Hopefully he will see sense and stay with us, but if I was twenty and had the chance of earning more money at a better club,I wouldn't wnat to hang around in Reading for another year.

Why is a fig of only £2.5M being banded about by the press - if he goes for that its a joke

WBA have put £12M tag on Dorrans and he was playing for Livingstone 18 months ago - there's no way he's worth 5 times more even though he's been part of a promoted side.

Hopefully most of the vultures will think Peter Whittingham is a safer bet than Gylfi given his previous Prem & England U21 experience. Oh and he happens to be Championship top scorer this season...

That of course assumes Cardiff bottle the play-offs as expected ;)

If we lose Sig it wont be because of us having to sell, it will because he is tempted by a move to a Prem club who have stumped up silly money to get him

£4m and he's gone.
£2m for Long
£2.5m for Federici
£3m for Mills
£3m for Kébé
£3m for Church

IMO. As the main players who could leave.

I know. Just don't want to think that is the reality.

I've heard a lot about the lad, he does seem to have his head screwed on. Obviously close with Bryn and Ivar and that influence rubs off.

I don't see him demanding a move this summer, or having his head turned. Dolan would kill him....

Gylfi re-iterates his intention to stay:

http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/footb ... reading_fc

Gylfi Sigurdsson insists he will shun the chance to join the Premier League this summer in favour of helping Reading win promotion.

The Iceland Under-21 international has a host of top-flight suitors with West Brom, Newcastle United, Bolton Wanderers, Wolves and Fulham all monitoring his progress this season.

After staring in his first full season at Madejski Stadium, the attacking midfielder, who was Royals’ top-scorer with 20 goals, has reiterated that he is going nowhere.

“I’ve got two more years on my contract and I’m not really fussed about the things which are going on,” said Sigurdsson.

“I’m happy here and playing every week so I think it would be a good idea to stay here for another two seasons. I’ll just turn my phone off and enjoy the summer now.

“If we start next season properly then I think we will have a great chance to get into the Premier League. I think it will be a good season next year.”

However, Reading chairman Sir John Madejski and his board are meeting boss Brian McDermott and director of football Nick Hammond today to discuss budgets for the 2010/11 campaign.

Good lad.

we can make the 4 million out of getting shot of big earners, so i see no need for the club to sell the crown jewels. JM isnt interested in taking money out, he just doesnt want to put in.

i see the kids staying, but possible moves for long and fed.
both easily replaced imo
