STAR Website Feedback

by Royal Biscuitman » 01 Jul 2014 13:10

My feedback on the STAR Website is to change the photos of the Board members to photos of them at games/wearing Reading shirts (which I assume they do anyway) as this will help fans see that those involved with STAR are fans first and foremost and no different to them (well apart from having the time and willingness to do something positive on behalf of their fellow fans). I also think some information e.g. Season ticket holder for x years, favourite player etc etc will help humanise the faces on the screen.

I think the moderators of this forum should do the same.

RB makes a fair point which I will raise at our next meeting. Probably due for a re-vamp of the page when we announce our new board 'signings'.

Green however ...

To be clear I did mean the wider forum (which the OP is a moderator of) rather than this board specifically.

Moderators are chosen by Hobnob (dictatorship)
STAR members are elected by the people (democracy)

As such, moderators do not need to win favour.

Yeh that's what I'm struggling with I guess Forbes. You're a bit like Julian Assange, you're campaigning for openness from others whilst demanding privacy for yourself.

I'm not demanding any privacy, half the board know who I am in real life and I've made no secret of the fact I use two usernames.

I'm also virtually retired as far as moderating goes, unless someone uploads pornography, beheading photos or I'm inclined to ignore it. Other than that, if someone complains about racism or whatever I will take a look, however whilst I disagree with racism I believe racists should be seen as racists and not moderated to appear all nice and fluffy.

Did you really start this thread Forbes, are you a member of STAR? and why should they put themselves up for anything personal.

Bottom of the barrel IMHO

^^ Not worth posting..... seems like you're scrapping the barrel to ramp up your post count.

It was STAR website feedback posted on a STAR message board with the subject STAR website Feedback, starliason responded saying it was a fair point and will be raised at the next STAR meeting...... so not an out of place thread and not without merit, However I do wonder quite what you were expecting to find on a thread entitled STAR website feedback other than STAR website feedback.... I say it is you who is scrapping the barrel, either for things to read, people to interact/troll or hook on your fishing rod or maybe just any old excuse to up your post count with.

In terms of further STAR website feedback, perhaps the website itself could have some sort of feedback mechanism other than the contacting us section which seems to be more tailored to making an enquiry.

As for my STAR membership, I'm not a current member of STAR and as someone who chooses not to be an active member, this is because I'm an accountant and find it difficult to part with cash without seeing any benefit to myself or to causes I support, However I am showing an interest in STAR as we have much mutual interest and I'm open to being won round to the idea of signing back up, In my opinion STAR has some barriers which may be putting fans off of joining up and my feedback is intended to help remove one of those which became apparent to me when visiting the website.
