Coppelled Streets
roland* STAR rep basically getting bummed. Why oh why not prepare a little better.

Did seem a little nervous, but fair to him for standing up for RFC.

You could nit-pick for hours and get nowhere with Holt.

It's really about a whole different level. Take the manager thing..

All of the other premiership managers are jekyll/hyde cartoon combinations. The press turns them into that. The sports journalists needs the "Soap" to go on otherwise they haven't got jobs. They HAVE to make Coppell into Mr Nice/Mr Nasty, and build all the other RFC "characters", otherwise they ain't got any copy on Reading apart from the facts, which doesn't sell their papers.

The idea that Reading could achieve what we have in "their" world without playing their games might be starting to niggle a few of them. Honesty, hard work and team spirit aren't the usual credentials.

Holt doesn't like Reading. He's not alone. I know a lot of people that don't like our club and what they stand for. The only difference is that this particular chap writes a column for a third rate newspaper.

I don't think there is any "not in our world" conspiracy..

And what would you say we do stand for?

Fantastic football and fair play? Yes, easy to dislike that.

Hold on, hold on, before you lot start laying into me.. That's not what I think. That is actually my stock response to when people say they hate our club and what they stand for...

It wasn't 'we', it was a man called John's opinions. Holt could hit 'John' with that, but I don't think he's really going to use that against the club....

I hope.

and I'd say other than the whinging fans of teams we've beaten, hardly anyone has a bad word for us.

I have to say though, Oliver Holt sounded about 20 years older than he looks.

I thought he was going to be on there for an hour, and thought that at least when the nervous guy goes there'll be a few other people able to have a go.

Holt is a sad little man who cant admit what team he actually supports..

As he said Man city or Utd might be closer to the team he suports... Smoke screen me thinks ...

If he is a Man u fan hes the only one that I have met that does not respect Reading... Even Alex Ferguson said reading are the team of the year and coppell is the manager of the year ..... But hey Holt knows more about football than Sir Alex

LOL, that was diabolical!

I know he was nervous, but all this 'I can answer every single point, and want a right to reply in the Mirror with the same prominence as your original article' business was just cack.

Holt's reply? 'what did you want to reply to that warrants one?'

Star man, 'eeeerm, I don't know, I'm sh*tting bricks and havent prepared even one solid backup argument to it'

All Mr Keen did wrong was get drawn into an on-air argument with the odious Mr Holt. He should have just stuck to asking for the right to reply via the paper.

To be fair Tim could have stepped in and defended him a little better.

That Friday Feeling He should have just stuck to asking for the right to reply via the paper.

'I have read the press complaints commission blah blah blah'

'So what specifically do you deserve the right to reply for?'

'I don't have an answer to that, the most obvious of comeback responses'

He didn't get drawn away from the right to reply comment, he couldn't back it up.

All mouth and no substance. Holt showed no fear in his preparedness and gave him every opportunity to challenge him properly. A real opening to take him to task, and it's a shame that what should have been the best possible representative of the supporters was nervous and unprepared.

Exactly why this interview scared the living crap out of me. These guys are supposed to be our representatives, and were supposed to have chosen the best man to take on Holt.

Holt put him under literally ZERO pressure, and he buckled!
