BBC Radio Berks Footy Phone In Guest Fri 9 March

by BBC Radio Berkshire » 09 Mar 2007 09:58

Dear All,

Reading legend Nicky Forster is confirmed for tonight and we're chasing Phil Parkinson and Jamie Cureton as well.

Bit of a catch up with the old boys this week

Nicky,

Has you ever been tempted to obtain a tree at Christmas time by blacking up and stealing a small conifer from your local copse?

If you did, this would be remarkable as an anagram of your name is NICK FORESTRY.

Cheers then
Cheery

Nicky, you've scored a few memorable goals during your time at Reading, what was the best and why (I liked Preston away, Wrexham away, and Wigan playoff home)

Nicky, do you remember the last time you passed to someone?

You have been unfortunate with injuries, why do you think you get so many?

Tim: Nicky did you ever know Jamie Cureton at all ?

Nicky: What are you talking about, of course I knew Curo, he was one of
my best mates, we trained together every day and played
up front together most weeks!

Tim: Well why didn't you ever pass him the bloody ball then?

Nicky, having played with Parky at Reading and had him as your Manager at Hull, did you feel the Hull board sacked him too early?

Your injury at Wolves in the Playoffs at 2003 was the turning point of a game in which we very much dominating and should have been futher ahead (had you passed to Hughesy and Chadwick stuck his foot a few cm longer), does that match still get to you?

Would you book a second rate tabloid journo hack thinking it would add some edge to a local radio footie program, whilst knowing full well that it would hack not only some of your audience off, but also your supply of interviewees from the local Premiership club?

This is what we do.

Joel, when you say guests do you mean in the studio or on the end of a phone for a few minutes like last weeks guests?

When Parky brought you to Hull, was it weird having an old teammate as manager?

What do you think are the main differences between the Reading that you played for and the Reading of today?

Do you think any of Reading's current players will go on to play for England?

Do Reading fans ever approach you these days and if so what do they say? (and hopefully the answer is not just "why didn't you pass to so-and-so" )

p.s.

Nicky, I love you and you're a Reading legend, mainly because I have THAT sub appearance in the play-off semi forever etched on my brain as a happy Royals memory.

Do you regret leaving Reading in 2005?

Good show, if you could retro again soon, then please try getting Martin Butler on show, with Walsall flying high in League 2.

Nicky F came accross very well on the radio.

15 seasons into the game......Still loving it (still scoring...and yet another match winner today)...and yet still a little bit humble..... "I am priviledged...just look at the cars in the car park"

Good Luck Nicky, still the player that started turning our fortunes around at Gillingham, New Years Day 2000.................from Pants Day to promotion and beyond
