Home attendance record about to be broken?

by playoffs or layoffs » 23 Feb 2007 19:36

Now the Tuesday game is sold out, I'm guessing that with the whole south stand handed over to ManU the Madejski attendance record is about to be broken.

Wasn't the current record set when Reading played Chelski in the cup a few years back? It'll probably be close.

I wouldn't take their word for it that we have actually sold out even when they say we have on the website. Often when you phone up after they have announced this you can still buy tickets. Also, I bet my entire bank account that there will be empty in front of the Kyocera walls in the north stand.

It wasn't the Chelsea game. Isn't it 24,122 at the game against Villa earlier this month?

I looked on the online booking system and no tickets are available, I guess any singles left will be taken at 9 a.m. tomorrow when you can buy them in person from the TO if you have no royalty points

I'm sure they will go by tomorrow, but why is that block always unused at the league games :?

I think the Chelski cup game was more as the South Stand wasn't segregated = more useable seats

At Spurs this season it was announced that the attendance was a record for the stadium. However, as has been said, I think that record was broken at teh Villa game.

I stand corrected M4J11, thanks for the link. Without any empty STH seats, and assuming that ManU sell all of their allocation of 4,400, I think we're on for a record on Tuesday then.

But will the BBC have a box built like Sky did earlier in the season? If so then the capacity is reduced leading to a lower sell-out.

The erection of extensions to the east, north and south stands of the existing Madejski Stadium, to provide 12,400 additional seats to increase the overall number of seats to 36,900

So the actual capacity is 24,500 then, and not 24,200.

Even the OS contradicts this, and RFC had this sent in to the council for planning permission. :?

I would imagine the difference between matchday capacity and stadium capacity is due to segregation / press allocation.

I thought it said on BBCRB tonight that tickets were available for the Utd game to member card holders now?

Man U site says tickets were over subscribed and they are using a ballot to allocate them.

Chelsea in the Carling Cup was 24, 107 and a sell out. Man U should be the same.

Incorrect. The South Stand was segregated in pre-season 2002. We played Chelsea in December 2003. Pedant mode off.

The difference was the TV studio next to the scoreboardw, which takes out about 200 seats.
