Well Ronaldo's certainly proved he's the best in the world at strutting, pouting and sulking again.

If Russia are disqualified, what happens to the 3rd placed team at the end of the group stage - as they'll be at a big disadvantage vs the other 3rd placed teams having played fewer games and presumably having fewer points and goals?

Automatic 3-0 win? Would England's result v Russia be changed as well??

Anyway, mainly came on to lol @ Ronaldo. What a bellend, the ball hitting him on the head at the full time whistle was the icing on the cake.

34 direct freekicks in major tournaments. 0 goals.

Hungary Austria - eh, like a championship game

Iceland - Portugal - there are only 50, 000 icelandic males that would be old enough to play football. lovely.

Plus they topped their group, almost qualified for the previous world cup. Even if they don't match this, for a country that small, to achieve what they've done so far in the last couple of years, is impressive. Very nicely set up, I thought, good team performance.

24 teams is a bit of a shambles, but I think the second round could be a full on shamblathon. Some of the group winners will play runners-up, some will play third place teams and there's two runner-up vs runner-up games. Maybe they'll be classics, maybe it'll be noise. It's all a bit random.

Silver Fox Trouble is NI somehow won their group, (was it ridiculously easy?) so would be in having no shots either way

2nd round of games is where we'll get confirmation of whether Platini has diluted the quality

A bit - Hungary, Finland, Romania, Greece. Think Greece were seeded highly and bolloxed it.

Iceland came second in one containing Czech, Turkey, Holland.

Yep, why the winners of E and F have to play a runner up whilst the other 4 groups get a 3rd place I don't understand.

And how do they decide which winner plays which 3rd place team - the Winner of group A, plays 3rd in C/D/E - but how is that decided? Does the strongest group winner of those 4 groups play the weakest 3rd place for example or is it a random draw, so say France won't know who they play until next Weds?

There's an 'algorithm'.

It is somewhat opaque

LOL

Dry your eyes Cristiano.

Of course they celebrated their first point in the first match of the first major finals they've ever been to, a point secured against one of the tournament's 'better' sides containing the word's second greatest player.

They had a plan and it worked.

According to SSN our result against Russia would be null and void and we would be left with 0 points. Obv. Wales and Slovakia won't be able to get any points against Russia either.

Giving us all 3-0 victories would give our 3rd placed team an unfair advantage against other 3rd placed teams too. Just can't see how this is going to work if they do get disqualified.

Awarding a win, but with no goal difference, might do it.

Maybe, but points come first so if say, England are awarded 3 points instead the one against Russia and pip through to the next round by having a point more than a team from another group, then that team has every right to be hugely pissed off.

Put England back on 0 points and make a win = 4 points and a draw = 2 points for all other results in the group

anyway - this is all moot.. there is no way, even if Russia bash England up again in Lille, that they are getting expelled.

I'll be happy to eat these words if it does happen

Remove all points and base the best 3rd places on the results against the teams that finished 1st and 2nd in the group.

Probably should have done that anyway, as removes the possibility of one team stinking out the place and giving their group a postive skew.
