Hodgson to leave Palace end of the season. No shock whatsoever.

NathStPaul
Winston Biscuit Italian media saying Conte is leaving inter over money issues (the club is financially a bit of a mess) and they will try to appoint Gattuso in his place

Would be decent at Spurs.

Agreed, but, can't really see him leaving a club due to disagreements with the owners and then going to work with Levy....

Yeah there is that stumbling block, he'd need some big financial assurances. I guess if they sell Kane for £150m that would be reinvested in the team it would be hard to turn down but again this is Spurs. They will spend £30m on Danny Ings and save the rest for a rainy day.

Fat Sam to step down as manager

It is like starting a career mode on FM and then quitting when it gets too hard and restarting

They need a full back line, plus holding midfielders

Nah, I think they'll be wanting to go with a younger manager. Also, Big Sam said he doesn't want the project of taking West Brom back up, I can't imagine he'd be too keen on taking on a role where 22 players are OOC at the end of the season.

 i had no idea they had so many ooc players. And the oldest squad in the prem. Yeah that's a major rebuilding job that. Maybe Eddie howe could be a good fit for both

I wouldn't be surprised to see Palace go for Brentford's manager Thomas Frank and his backroom team. That sort of business model would suit Crystal Palace really well IMO. Buy cheap from the English lower leagues, develop players and then sell on. They do the same with European players too, they seem to uncover hidden gems all the time. Not sure how much it would cost Palace to get all the Brentford staff in but it might be worth it in the long run.

It’s a bit of a gamble. Seem to fare better with traditional old school managers, Pulis did well there, Pardew did well for a bit, Hodgson had stabilised them

Last gamble they took was De Boer and that went awfully. Rebuilding the club takes time and sometimes in the Prem, is a luxury you can’t afford

In saying that, Brighton took a bit of a risk with Potter and he’s slowly transforming them into a decent team. Can see them having a good season next year if they sign a striker

I think Palace might need to come down to rebuild again, perhaps they could have gone down the Thomas Frank route had they been relegated this season. I think you're right about them not wanting to gamble, De Boer was a complete disaster.

It is certainly a long term project though, it is not going to be easy to compete in the Premier League when you have an already aging squad and so many players out of contract. They could do a lot worse than getting Allardyce in and keeping them safe for a season giving them time to build a new recruitment model. They could then hand the reigns over to a yonger manager for a long term project.

Yeah, that's what West Brom probably thought in December. I feel his time may have passed.

Wolves fans think he is going home as he has struggled being isolated from his family.
