Old Man Andrews Nigel Pearson proving what a good manager he is at Watford, their turnaround is quite remarkable. I'll be surprised if they can keep hold of him for long.

He is doing very well but doubt they need to worry too much about another club coming in for him any time soon - given no-one bar a Belgian Second Division club were interested in the 4 years since he left Leicester following an excellent run there.

How would you know if there was interest in him or not? He left Leicester under a cloud anyway, he needed to go away and reinvent himself and he has done.

He had an awful spell at Derby, left by mutual consent after barely 5 months and then Boro turned him down and he didn't get offered a job anywhere else or been reported as in the frame for one - so any interest has not been strong enough to turn into an offer.

He has hardly reinvented himself. His record in Belgium was average but he is clearly currently the right man in the right job and fair play to him for that.

Reinvent in terms of his demeanour and attitude. He seems to be a lot calmer and thoughtful these days, think he learnt a lot from the "ostrich incident" at Leicester.

Derby wasn't a great fit, and Belgium was a 'different' experience. Take those out and Pearson has a career 43.4% win rate, which is right up there amongst current managers (and including Derby it is 42.7% in England). He's a good manager - not to everyone's taste but he gets results (albeit his first signing as Hull manager in 2010 was James Harper :?)

Appears that Stranded has his head in the sand.

Spanish press say that Xavi turned down the job at Barca so they have agreed to give it to Quique Setien, who is the bloke who took Betis up to 6th a couple of years back. No official announcement on anything yet I think.

Official. Bit of an overreaction to losing in the semi final of a nothing tournament.

He’s had quite a few incidents though that don’t particularly work in his favour. Although not exactly his fault, the incident with his son while he was at Leicester, the mini fight on the touchline with McArthur, the “ostrich” interview, his disaster at Derby etc

He may have achieved good things but people look at more than that nowadays, the professionalism and conduct of a manager too

You just don't understand the Barca way do you? They are the premier team in world football, their supporters demand a certain style of play along with success. Valverde was not satisfying their excellent, loyal supporters. He had his time.

Weren't we linked with him before Gomes?

Would now have to fancy them to do the business at Rovers on Saturday. Would be a coupon booster for sure.

Just read up a little bit about him, didn’t know he’d been in charge of Blackpool for three years back in 2005. Surprised they re-appointed him in the first place considering he left them in the first place to join Leeds

Well he's a Leeds fan and they are far bigger than Blackpool as a club. Similar reasons why I don't remotely begrudge or dislike Alan Pardew.

Graham Westley leaves Stevenage for the fourth time. Surely that’ll be his final stint there?
