With the resources at his disposal, Steve Clarke could do a job at
Anfield, now that he is not going to Sunderland.

All in all Brendan can't have been helped by the b****y stupid transfer committee they have in operation there. It's not necessarily Rodgers that needed to go but the entire behind the scenes organisation. Can't see Klopp or Ancelotti being too impressed with that set up.

So, Rodgers to be next Reading manager following Clarke going to Sunderland to replace Advocaat who, no doubt, will end up at Liverpool.

Stranger things have happened.....

While Madejski still has some involvement at the club Rodgers won't be back.

Funnily enough his "style" would be more suited to the players we currently had than the squad he built here before he was sacked.

From Despair To Where? I thought he was a strange appointment for Liverpool in the first place. Clubs with Top 4 ambitions tend to go for managers with a track record of winning things on a national and European level and they seemed to ignore the fact that at Swansea, he walked into a job where the squad was already set up to play his style.

He clearly a "project" manager and struggles when expectations are high and instant results are expected. There's no doubting his coaching credentials but the big fear for him now is that he's a bit of a busted flush, I can't see too many Premiership teams touching him and I don't think his ego will allow him to take a couple of steps down the ladder to rebuild his reputation, although with his massive pay off, I don't think he'll be too bothered in the short term.

Maybe a return to Chelsea in a coaching capacity or abroad? He always banged on about having jose's number, maybe it's time he actually rang it.

Job as a coach at Chelsea is a great shout for Brendan. Allows him to stay in day to day involvement in football keeping his toes in the water ready for some poor sod to lose their job like Sherwood, and gives Chelsea some fresh ideas and a bit of a shake up behind the scenes. Brendan also gets to put another chapter in his bumper book of tactics scrapbook, everyone's a winner.
