I actively dislike Chelsea. I would always want the other team to beat them. Except when they play West Ham, obviously.

I have never met anyone who knows a Chelsea fan who isn't a complete pcunt.

Arsenal and Chelsea have each been allocated just 6,000 tickets for the Europa League final at the 68,700 Olympic Stadium in Baku.

It was always going to be a problem getting there whichever team made it, so why did UEFA decide to hold it there? Obvious answer is that Baku paid handsomely for the privilege, so UEFA should use that cash to help people get there. Doubtless they will but only for the 50k+ tickets not given to fans.

Currently there are no direct flights and changing means a minimum 10hrs travel time. It's crazy.

Absolute shambles. If you can't afford a flight, then a train will take you over four days. And all for a match that kicks off at 11pm local time to accommodate the European audience.

To be fair the kick off time will help the players as they can stay on UK time and prepare as if for an 8pm ko.

Interesting* stat on the Champions League. If Spurs win their first Champions League, it will come 58 years after their last domestic league title. If Liverpool win their sixth, and City get the job done at Brighton, it will come 29 years after their last domestic league title. Both will be records, Liverpool's fifth European Cup in 2004-05 set the current record at 15 years.

This final and the eventual winners a real outlier in spite of criticism from some of the tournament comprising clubs that are not champions of their domestic leagues - since runners-up (and more) were allowed into the competition in 1997, only Milan 06-07 (3 years), Real Madrid 15-16 (4 years), and Liverpool have won the trophy more than two years removed from their last domestic league title.

From Jurgen Klopp:

"Madrid is unbelievably expensive but who decides Baku for a European final? Or Kiev? I don't know what the people who decide these things have for breakfast."

And also

I sleep as much as I need to. I can sleep pretty well. The only problem is, all the other guys in my age group know as well, I wake up in the night three times. But no worries, I’m fine.

Arsenal have already been to Baku once this season, earlier in the competition.

Liverpool have earned €188m over the last two years combined in the CL.

Man United earned €133m in the same time frame. Missing out on the top-four is going to be expensive for them next year, even with a decent UEFA coefficient presumably boosting any Europe League payments.

It would cost them bugger all to subsedise those fans and pay for cheap club travel if going by the travel club. Disgusting....but then if you support a branded club what do you expect.
As of the Baku game, again two clubs who fleece their fans. Then again WTF are UEFA up to holding club competitions in Asia. Have they even looked at a map?
In future there should also be contingency that if two teams from the same country get to the final, it should be in their country. It really isn't fair on fans.

Ticketing for both finals is the standard complete and utter disgrace for the fans of the clubs actually competing. Nothing but a jolly good jolly for all the corporates and various dignatories.

Am I right in saying that one of UEFA's reasons for only giving them 6,000 tickets is that after factoring in that it's a ballache getting to Baku and Azerbaijan's a complete shithole, they figured people wouldn't want to go?

Anyone wondering why they gave it to Baku in the first place  ?

Yeah, thought not

UEFA actually said

Taking into consideration the geographical location and logistical capacity of airports in and around the host city, it was deemed that around 15,000 spectators would be able to travel from abroad (this includes finalists' fans and general public), with Baku as the main hub."

It added that "offering more tickets to fans of the participating teams, without any guarantee that they would be able to arrange suitable travel to reach Baku, was therefore not a responsible option".

"Based on these circumstances, for this year's UEFA Europa League final in Baku, 6,000 tickets have been made available to each of the finalists."

It would be an even bigger shithole after tens of thousands of drunk English football fans were finished with it.
