What do clubs expect these days? Far too many clubs have ideas above their station.

I agree with you there; Reading now have a rival for stupidest sacking of the season. Irvine kept them up in 2007-8 having taken over in November '07 with PNE facing the drop. He took them to the play-offs in May, at the end of his first full season. This season Preston have been on the verge of administration and he had to allow St Ledger, his star defender, to go to Middlesbrough on loan. It appears Shaw is another chairman who can't see further than the end of his nose.

First sign of trouble it seems now and its "good-bye"

Maybe crowds were falling...did notice Preston haven't scored many and I guess it means they have a new manager in for the Janaury transfer window maybe.

Not on a great run but still closer to the play-offs.

Thank god Darren Fergie is going there, means he won't be coming here, which is a relief.

Not many 'promising' managers left...if at all.

+1.

Some people on here are almost too afraid to say his name, they seem to hold him in such veneration. Simple fact is he bought success at Peterborough and will try and do the same wherever he goes.

Can't think where he learned that from
