Zambia's Patson Daka to join Leicester City from RB Salzburg. Haaland's 'replacement' in Austria, scored 61 in 87 games since Haaland left. Appears to be a very natural finisher, and to have Haaland's good eye for goalscoring positions.

Wonder if that means Vardy will be used more as sub next season? From what I have seen of Daka he is quite similar to Vardy, he should learn a lot from him.

Izzy Brown's Chelsea contract runs out (how is he only 24?!) and he joins Preston on a 1 year deal

are 1 year deals part of 'the new normal'?

Can definitely see that happening at Football League level.

I would love to see a situation where there is an NFL style draft system for the Football League. In mid July all those UK based players without a club attend training camps and each club gets to draft a maximum of 3 of them. First picks go to the clubs who finished in the place above the relegation zone in their respective league and then the next pick goes to the team finishing 19th etc.

I haven't really thought it through and it probably wouldn't work.

I like the concept, but the main two reasons it doesn't work are a) relegation (US sports are closed shops, with places awarded to bidding franchises rather than earned by promotion), and b) lack of collective bargaining (and wage setting) on the part of players.

Agent: 'Dave, you're going to Leyton Orient.'
Orient: 'Hello Dave, we will be paying you in Snickers bars and a leisure centre membership.'

Oh I see that side to it for sure, there are many reasons why it couldn't happen. You'd essentially need to do away with transfers which would end up killing off a lot of the League 1 and 2 Clubs. You'd then have to use salary caps which nobody is going to agree to.

Do think some thought is needed to make League 1 and 2 a bit fairer and cost effective. I would personally start by regionalising the leagues. Rather than League 1 and 2 have Football League North and Football League South. Less travel, more local derbies and higher gate receipts. Should be financially benneficial for the clubs.

Would also like to see the Football League do more to get their clubs TV time. Surely a deal can be struck with Sky to let another broadcaster in to show live games at League 1 and 2 level? Get a game on at lunchtime on ITV or Channel 5 etc.

FFP with actual teeth would resolve the issues at football league level, but unfortunately the shark has already jumped at the top of the game, and the disparity too great. For all the negativity thrown at the European Super League, it wouldn't have been an awful thing for domestic football and the grass roots game in the long-run.

2 seasons ago I would have  at that

There is no way they will be in for Kane or Haaland now after spending that, unless they offload a few

I really hope somebody can talk him out of it. I think he needs to play somewhere he is the star and not just another good player. He would have been perfect for Arsenal/Spurs.

His prolific partnership with Kane in the Euros bodes well for next season

Being said that there was a clause in Andre Silva's contract which said that if Frankfurt accepted an offer of more than €40M then Jorge Mendes would receive a €10M lump some plus 15%(ish) of the transfer fee.

With that in mind they ended up negotiating the transfer fee down with Leipzig and have agreed to accept a a bid of €23M as that is all they would have ended up taking anyway from the higher bid that Leipzig were willing to make.
