Royalist Looks like Slough have had a major blow to their plans of a new ground.

But never mind. They got promoted.
You little tease, so what IS this major blow then?

... no real details here but plenty of inferences that they are still a long way from a 'when' (and indeed a where?) :?

Thanks FoC....sounds like another pretty routine, run of the mill "blow" to the Rebels

The Arbour Vale school site is in a tug-of-war between Dept for Education and Slough Borough Council. SBC had backed a joint development with housing and a new community-focused ground for STFC. DfE wanted a free school there. That free school now in Stoke Poges despite vigorous NIMBYism. Now another free school going to get the land allocated for the ground, with 2nd part of the land divvied up between free school and St Joe's school next door. The final third (which is big enough for a ground) has been allocated for 'community-based' projects - whether that means a ground or not is not clear. Still, the tenants will have to make do with Step03 football next season, hey ho...

Correct me if i am wrong, or out of date, but wasn't most of the funding coming from getting permission to build houses too? That is dead now surely?

Yep, building houses funded the programme, including ground. Evidently no houses in new plan but also no clarification yet as to community-focused element. Have to say not hopeful as DfE hold the whip hand, and SBC have been promising much and delivering little so far. The fact is, without land in Slough, and without the council's permission, nothing will happen even if a pot of money became available.

AthleticoSpizz Glenn Little 38 departs Wealdstone for Heybridge Swifts

Jody Brown, the Heybridge Swifts manager who recruited Glen has now cleared off to Grays Athletic. Coincidentally the article on the Swifts website which trumpeted Glen's arrival has now been removed. It could be just a cock-up but...... Interesting to read of any further developments next week.

As a matter of interest what is Slough's old Wexham Park ground used for now or has it been bulldozed?

Still there. Been tarted up, but not played on. Same people still own it as when Slough had to leave, so not an option until they sell up and/or it moves into Slough (it's in S Bucks), so that there is some measure of control.

About 15 years ago, STFC chairman put forward plans for a new ground at Kennedy Park, Britwell. Local opposition stopped it being built on. It is now being developed for housing...

Well the people coming into Slough have no need for a non league football club but somewhere to go to school or live is needed. Going to be tough for Slough to get anywhere that isn't on the outskirts. I'm sure if a good enough offer was made you could get Wexham Park back but i doubt it would be viable in business terms as the owners are sitting onto it until Slough needs to build on that land.

IN! for Salisbury away. We can have tea and toast in my parents' house before the game then go on the rampage after it, having got a lift down into town afterwards from my Dad

... well girls :) - was going to wait until the WC was done/dusted but since I'm seriously considering getting out somewhere tomorrow PM thought I was justified in slinging up the first post of the 'new' season.
- not comprehensively checked through but here's selection of a few 'local' match-ups for tomorrow (Sat 12th) in the Pre-Season Friendly bracket:

PSFs Saturday 12th July
Abingdon United v Clanfield 85
Amersham Town v Aylesbury (3pm)
Ascot United v Penn & Tylers Green (1pm) @ Cantley Park
Badshot Lea v Egham Town (3pm) @ Aldershot Garrison 4G
Basingstoke Town v Yeovil Town (3pm)
Bedfont & Feltham v Chertsey Town (3pm)
Bedfont Sports v Holyport (3pm)
Binfield FC v Eversley & California ## see below (1pm) @ Cantley Park, Wokingham
Bracknell Town v Uxbridge
Burnham v Wealdstone (3pm)
CB Hounslow United v Hillingdon Borough
Chalfont Wasps v Chesham United XI (3pm)
Cirencester Town v Newport County (3pm)
Farnborough v Oxford United (2pm)
Farnham Town v Godalming Town (3pm)
Hanworth Villa v Spelthorne
Hartley Wintney v Aldershot Town XI (3pm)
Kidlington v North Leigh (3pm)
Kings Langley v Hemel Hempstead Town (3pm)
Marlow v Eastleigh (3pm)
Merrow v Ash United (2pm)
Newbury Town v Andover New Street
Pewsey Vale v Purton 3pm
Sheerwater v Ashford Town Middlesex
Staines Lammas v Guildford City (3pm) 4G at Matthew ARNOLD Centre, Staines
Swindon Supermarine v Swindon Town (3pm)
Thatcham Town v Hungerford Town (3pm)
Virginia Water v Spelthorne Sports (12:00h) though SS website says 15:00h
Whitchurch United v Gosport Borough (3pm)
Windsor v Slough Town (3pm)
Woking v Falkirk (3pm)
Wokingham & Emmbrook v Flackwell Heath at Cantley Park
Woodley Town v Reading Town 10.15am  WTFC showing this as @ Cantley Park

--- be a bit wary of matches scheduled for Cantley and not just cos of the odd KO times - Binfield had to cancel their fixture last w/e as the pitches were overbooked - and there do seem to be quite a few scheduled above!

PS Can someone 'capable' update the thread title please - or is what I've done OK?

PPS Some very unpleasant rumours bubbling up this week about Eversely & California folding :o - just promoted to the CCL Premier but have had a Hart District Council restriction re use of Lights midweek, hanging over them for some time now. Indeed it was detailed in the original planning permission agreement. The CC League committee have (allegedly) pronounced E&C cannot now move up to STEP05 - bit :| bearing in mind the documentation stipulating the restriction has been in existence for about 3 years - so someone must have known it could be an issue. The CCL have accommodated others with special 'circumstances' of late (Worcester Park, Dorking, Guernsey , Farnham and so on) which makes it surprising that this appears to be taken as a fait accompli - the latest word is the management team and first team squad have upped and walked out en masse following this decision.! :(

... then again this is only a thread on the CCL messageboard/forum - so may be liberally sprinkled with hokum 8)
