I must admit I know nothing about this character, but if we are looking to sign young, hungry players like this then I quite like it. We used to make signings like this, and often got them right.

Of course if he's on a free in six months I can't see us going in for him in January, as unless he comes with a free box of fireworks Couhig won't want to pay for him. So, I imagine he'll go somewhere else for a modest fee in January.

I know couhig is tighter than a Scotsman but if we want him, and it means we don’t miss out on him surely we would move for him now. He’s spent more on fireworks this season…

It certainly seems like a no-brainer but I am not convinced Couhig would want to pay. He'd probably think, 'if he's free in six months we'll wait until then' without realising that other clubs would just take the chance on him now.

I suppose none of us know what the transfer budget actually is and what they are willing to spend on certain types of players so it's all guesswork. I get the impression that although we're no longer barred from spending money, Couhig is still very careful with it. Which, to be fair, I would rather than seeing him spunking money on loads of dross just because we can.

He's under 24 so won't there be some sort of transfer or development fee in the summer? Used to be triggered if Accrington offered him a new contract on at least the same terms that he's currently on.
