Well, well, well, - Church to Swansea - to meet up again with his old mate? His m8 has seen a bit of a dip in form since they split up...

Brian McDermott has also given an update on any other possible deals today http://bit.ly/zSMMRT #readingfc

That could be it. Maybe loans in the loan window.

I know I've been taking the piss a bit myself but what were you expecting given that the deal with the Russians hasn't actually gone through yet.

We've signed decent players in areas that we needed on relatively short term deals in case the Russian takeover goes tits up. If we can add a Keith Andrews or similiar to the mix then that would be 4 signings that we wouldn't have had prior to the Russian input and 3 of which have come from Premiership clubs.

What is your obsession with transfer fees anyway? January really isn't the time to be spending money on transfer fees given how the prices are massively inflated.

"They went to the Premiership" - Wayne Bridge was one.

I'm quite please as it's evolution rather than revolution.

Deep down I was a little worried what might happen. Vision makes a good point above too.

Honestly though what were you expecting?

Something that maybe took us beyond our rivals and the capability to really challenge to get automatic promotion. I hope I'm wrong but I really dont think these guys will give us the ability to get there.

Matt Connolly and Jason Roberts with Kebe signing a new deal - that aint bad tbf.

Puts us back to where we were last season or thereabouts and wouldn't describe it as an anti-climax at all. Pretty good January compared to what I expected [Kebe to leave]

Patience is a virtue.

These guys 'may' get us there with a good following wind....Next season is the plan, I think that is obvious really?

I'm sure that people working at the club are capable of realising which areas of the team and squad need improving. If the right player is available we will make a move.

Also feel the club may have made a smart move switching the City game to last Saturday as this must make it much easier for McDermott, Hammond etc to be present for any deals they may wish to push through, without the distraction of a fixture. Their personal attitude, reputation and style is a big factor in convincing players to come to the club if we are competing with others.

Whether these players work out or not is another thing entirely of course. Surprisingly (for an ex-scout) McD seems to have done better purchasing 'ready' players than his 'prospect' types, although some of these still have a chance to make it.

IMO we do need a creative/goalscoring attacking midfielder but that shouldn't hide the fact that we did need defensive cover and a 'lead the line' striker. The latter 2 have been addressed and although Cywka wouldn't have been my choice for the former, maybe he will be able to fill that role. Useful to have on the bench if nothing else, being capable of performing in several attacking roles (and a low risk option too).

Yep, who knows, might be a tidy squad addition. We lose nothing if he doesn't cut the mustard.
