RUMOUR - Iago Aspas

READING are preparing an offer for the Celta de Vigo striker Iago Aspas as they seek a goalscorer who could keep them in the Premier League for more than one season. Aspas has been courted by the Swansea City manager, Michael Laudrup, and watched by a number of other top-tier clubs but Reading believe a bid close to the player’s £8.3m buyout figure could prove decisive.

The 25-year-old scored 23 Segunda Division goals last season to lead Celta’s return to Spain’s top flight. He has continued that form in the Primera Division, netting eight times in 18 appearances.

Would be quality, but I doubt it. The fee alone would scare us off.

Great player though, my mate works for Real Madrid's academy and he tells me that he's capable of playing anywhere across the forward line and is very good technically. Would be a major coup for Reading if we got him.

Sounds like Paper Talk in all honesty which is getting a bit boring. Not to mention all the sounds the club have been making this whole window. We are either not looking to sign any more or they are too expensive and that figure looks high for us.

TBH, we're probably more likely to sign him than Chelsea, in as much as they have bigger fish to fry. When they're being linked with Falcao, Fellaini etc. I doubt they have much interest in a guy who was playing in the Spanish second tier last season.

In the prematch interview Brian said theres one more signing, and that was BEFORE Kelly was confirmed. He said there are no more players he has in mind. So its likely we're signing no one else.

2 world wars, 1 world cup In the prematch interview Brian said theres one more signing, and that was BEFORE Kelly was confirmed. He said there are no more players he has in mind. So its likely we're signing no one else.

He believes one deal is close to completion - with Fulham's Stephen Kelly understood to be on his way in - and has admitted that he will look to dip into the market on at least one more occasion before the window slams shut.

"We think we're closer on another player, but it's never done until it's done," said McDermott.

"We're hopefully it'll be done sooner rather than later. There could possibly be more if this one comes off, we'll see.

Different BMD quote from probably around the same time… think its safe to say that another signing might still be a possibility

If Torres doesn't move in this window, then I could see them potentially loaning Aspas out for the rest of the season. That's the only way I could see this move happening.

If this doesn't highlight something wrong with football, I don't know what does.

Chelsea signing a player they don't need, and yet our chances of signing him aren't diminished because Chelsea can loan him out, and probably will, to a team in the same league. Mental.

We are crying out for something to be added to the squad in an attacking sense whether it's another striker or an ACM, all I've seen this window though in that sense are stupid no chance rumours like this and Arshavin.

A footballer is offered a choice of Reading or Chelsea. Difficult decision that.

more difficult than you think

the road to stamford bridge is littered with the corpses of players who went there thinking theyd take over the world, and ended up never playing

not literally
