Latest Conspiracy - Drenthe future in doubt

by Jay o/ » 27 Oct 2013 17:10

@football_oranje
Royston Drenthe causing trouble again? Seems he doesn't want to be at Reading http://www.football-oranje.com/drenthe- ... rd-return/ #Feyenoord #readingfc

Also the rumours below that were coincidentally brought up last week as well, one of those claiming the same is the director of of a local company I work closely with and it would be completely out of character for him to want to make anything like this up, especially as he has a strong relationship with the club. In any case, the rumours are below:

Really hope this is completely untrue but overheard a couple of lads talking in the hotel today before the game that due to the takeover not going through we unable to play Drenthe or Williams. This is due to the conditions in their contracts regarding wages and bonus'. If true what a shambles our club is becoming!

......

Drenthe came into hospitality before the Birmingham game and was asked if he was going to be fit for the Barnsley game and replied I think that will be to soon but Saturday against burnley will be fine. This was exactly the same with kebe at start of season him saying he was fit in hospitality and club saying he is injured then was sold. I am not suggesting the above post is true but does seem weird with the amount of injuries we are getting and the indifferent reports of what is actually going on it can't help the players on the pitch. I hope everyone can get behind the team and put these rumours and off field politics to one side while the clubs sorts all this rubbish out fast.

In addition to the above, he claimed SJM wont pay Drenthe's bonuses that he picks up per appearance.

I'm sick to death of fans making a conspiracy out of everything. Drenthe said on Instagram a couple of weeks ago he expected to be back by now, and yesterday apparently said 10 more days. It's more than likely a misjudgement on his part, but even so, he can't be far away from fitness now.

If we are back under SJM's control now, and that is a big if, (as we still have no idea what is going on at the club), then if we cock up promotion this season, we all know what is coming. Annual black holes, a massive wage bill out of the SJM Reading Way's depth, so top players will leave every summer to bring that wage bill down to a more manageable level. It will all be about the kids coming through, while the high earners depart window by window. That is just an opinion, but based on our last relegation from the Premier League, we gave it one big so the first season down, then we trimmed the squad and lost a top player every summer thereafter. It will be worse this time due to the size of the wage bill TSI were happy to manage, which is a lot more than SJM would ever have allowed us to manage.

Drenthe has proven to be a useless signing thus far; a couple of flash-harry half hours before a demonstrable lack of fitness has seen him fade and now he is 'not fit enough' to even get a place on the bench.

Hard to be optimistic about the future of our club with all these uncertainties hanging over us :!:

The same idiot on Twitter who claimed SJM wont pay Drenthe's bonuses also claims it's the same for Williams. So on the basis it's a load of rubbish!

Drenthe, though exciting when he has the ball, has zero end product! We've looked a better more balanced side since Obita came in. If Drenthe left in January, along with his hefty wages, I wouldn't even blink. It'd be a shame though, as if he got his head down he's be a bloody good player, but he appears to be a handful off the pitch, and we don't need that here.

True or not, you can't blame fans for all the speculation. We have no idea what the ownership situation is, and last season we were told players were injured when they weren't (and this season with Kebe/Mariappa), so again the fans trust in what the club tells them is further damaged. Is Drenthe injured? Probably. But he thought he'd be back for Burnley, and now he says 10 more days on his Instagram (I'm sure the club will be pleased with that). But the 'rumours' of Madejski not wanting to pay these bonuses sounds more than plausible IF he is once again running the show. There will be plenty of changes if we don't go up this season and if TSI's tenure here is indeed coming to an end. If that is the case, all we can hope for is a new owner, and one with good intentions, to keep the progress made going, and to prevent us slipping backwards at a rate of knots!

The player himself has posted messages on his Instagram saying he'd be back by now and then yesterday he'd be back in ten days! Other rumours about SJM not letting him play have been on Twitter long before someone added them to that rumours site!

Its the silence thats deafening!
There has been zero comment about either of their injuries.

Christ, Leigertwood even gets mentioned and he has not even figured thus far.

Can we add Billy Sharp to this?, he seems to have disappeared without a trace.

An interesting idea - that there should be some sort of minimum intelligence requirement before being allowed to use the internet! If only!!

Just said their name along with all the other players that are injured.

Nige likes to keep the opposition managers guessing so if you're hoping for a comprehensive upd8 on every injured player then you'll be disappointed an awful lot this season.

One8Seven1 and last season we were told players were injured when they weren't (and this season with Kebe/Mariappa),

Mariappa played in the game at Peterborough (on the night, Premiership quality - sorry no way) , Kebe was due to play but cried off himself.

Ok championship players. Not good enough for a higher level.
