According to the Sun we are among the clubs looking at a loan deal for Hull's 21 year old defender

Everything with a pinch of salt as with any rumour.. But anyone know if he's actually any good? Haven't heard of him myself. Also think we could do with someone a bit older with some more experience than a 21 year old, would prefer seeing Hector get some more experience than another youngster that's only on loan.

From a little research, seems he was a regular for the last few seasons for Sheffield United, bought by Hull and made 0 appearances so far, I'm not convinced, a 21 year old with 0 Championship experience with our already youthful defence.

I have down-scaled the amount of football I watch by x2 or x3 but even I have a fairly good understanding of who Harry Maguire is and how he plays from having watched him. Why are you guys hanging about on a football forum? It's like planespotters not being able to recognise any planes.

Apologies for not being more familiar with an ex Sheffield Utd youngster, suddenly I feel the need to re evaluate my whole outlook on the footballing world.

However now you have mentioned he is ex Sheff Utd I vaguely recall perhaps seeing him in a pre season or cup game against them at home a season or 2 ago, when Dave Kitson was still there. Seemed a big presence considering he was obviously even younger then, but didnt stand out footballing wise, although he should of improved since then..

Seems odd to bother loaning in a 5th choice centre back. I'd probably rather we focused on other areas of the team, if we lose 3 centre backs to injury / suspension then we would still cope - Gunter did a decent job there for a few games last season.

Pretty much all of his experience is at League One. Admittedly Hector doesn't have a huge amount of experience but I'm not sure if I would personally look at Maguire as significantly more experienced. Just saying, I'd choose Hector over Maguire purely because he is one of our own and Maguire would just be a loan to add to squad depth.

It would be plain wrong to bring in a 21 year old who can't get a game for Hull and play him ahead of Hector and even Cooper who have both shown they are capable at this level and have along term future at the club. Unless he is an England player in the making why would we give a Hull reserve experience above our own players of similar age and ability ?

Teams are picked to win games, surely?!......When fit, Ferdinand will be at the back with Pearce - we can then send the likes of Cooper out on loan to gain first team experience (which is better than him getting 8mins off the bench for us) - we then take someone like Maguire in on loan, as that cover that Cooper leaves space for.

Thats a fair point. But in all fairness Cooper hasnt looked completely out of space when he's made his little cameos, he's sufficient cover for Hector I believe. I don't feel we really need a CB unless it was on a perm to be picked ahead of Hector or Ferdinand. For a loan I'd rather put the wages towards getting in a striker or left winger.

Cooper has looked OK but do you really want to throw a young centre back into the grind of the Championship without any real experience? What happens if he gets torn apart by a Nakhi Wells and loses his confidence? I'm not against using him as a stop gap but relying on him to be the backup if we have a significant injury crisis is asking for trouble.
