John Smith NewCorkSeth John Smith Whilst you're right in some respect, we were storming the league in the early stages and I think we only need a few tweaks here and there to be a very decent side. I don't think Villa or Newcastle will walk the league, we know how hard it is.

That's a weird expression isn't it? Anyone know it's roots? I mean how can you be right in respect?
He is right
in respect of our final league position, however our initial start does counter that point.

Well you answered my first question as to what merit his asinine comment had though I still disagree that our end result was so bad that our entire team should be replaced.
My second question was where the idiom "in some respects" originates. That you clearly did not answer..
To put it simply how long has "respect" been a synonym for "aspect" as the expression seems to imply.
