Only a year left on his contract after this

Prob have to get promoted, sell this jan or get him to sign a new contract tbh to get full worth out of him

The bloke is far too good for us...it not a question of if he’ll go, it’s a question of when. I’ve always thought it’s best for the development of young players to stick at a club for a few seasons before moving to a club where they’ll have less game time. But we’re talking of another Gylfi here so can see us making a fortune. Obviously we’ll try and get him to sign another contract and there’s always the hope he’ll want to sign and stick around for a while.

Right now I’d say he’s worth £20-25m but in this climate, who knows

He's yet to fill out, which could effect him and he can still have off game and be quite sloppy, nearly gave Cov a free 1 on 1 for example.

But got to be in the 15 to 25 mil range given age, potential and current form.

No way the people who refused 10 mil for Moore or 3.5 for Swift when we desperately needed to sell and cut the wage budget are letting him go anywhere in Jan whilst we have a shot at promotion.

He’s a great talent but needs to be a bit careful as he does showboat at times. I really hope he is still at the club when we are able to return to the stadium.

And is it O Lees or O Lee say?

Nearly all commentators so far seem to be plumping for the latter

Not sure what Radio Berks guys are saying

O Lee Say for me.

If we do let him go at the end of the season, I’d hope us to be a little bit cheeky and say can he stay next season on loan as well?

I've always pronounced it Oh Lease

But I'm usually wrong about this stuff, so I'd go with Dellor on this (you'll almost never see me say this) because he actually speaks to the players and staff and he says Oh Lee Say iirc.

Premier League clubs seem more interested in goalscoring wingers/ midfielders who might step up from The Championship and the benchmark would appear to be about £20 million if Bowen and Benrahma are guideline players.
So far Olise doesn't score many (in fairness hasn't played that many games either) unlike Gylfi in his time here but if he became anywhere near as prolific as the two mentioned above then we might be looking at near £20million.

At the moment I would suggest that his value could be about £10 million-he is obviously known in Premier League circles from his times with both City and Chelsea so clubs will be keeping tabs on him and he will get even more exposure if we remain in contention and appear more frequently on TV.
It could be that Chelsea and City thought that he might be too frail but he is showing already that the hurly-burly of The Championship doesn't faze him.

I hope we keep him and if we got promoted I suspect that the owners would do their best to keep him-if we don't make it then, like Hull and Brentford, we would regrettably have to sell him as one of our best players.

O-lease is probably better French but everyone connected to the club seems to use O-Lee-say.

Meite is another tricky one. May-tay, my-tay, my-tie, mighty, might, matey? You hear them all.

I wouldn’t worry. I have never heard anyone pronounce Sigurðsson correctly in 15-odd years.

Olise is pronounced O-Leece. If unsure listen to the BBC Berks prematch bit where the players who are playing announce themselves. Micheal Olise says “O-Leece” and I would presume he knows best of anyone how to pronounce his name.

As to Yakou, he says May-Tay

Should we retire his shirt number if/when he leaves?

On the basis of what they got for Bellingham we should hold out for £20m plus

Hold out for as much as possible/appropriate for a player his age and skill. But let's not retire the shirt. He hasn't actually achieved anything for us yet, except playing well in a few games and graduating from our academy. No retiring the short, let's be sensible.

I think he was joking.

File this under, "I'll believe it when I see it"

If he had this release clause in the summer then why didn't they activate it then, when they were looking to bring in a midfielder but failed?

Yeah total BS surely. I’ve never heard of us putting release clauses in players contracts and certainly not a first time professional contract to an academy player.

Because he hadn't convinced them he was worth it at that point having not got many assists or goals?

They can't sign him til January, by which time hopefully he'll have a nice new improved contract with a £30m release clause.

Out of interest if we have been daft enough to place an 8M release clause in Olise's contract (unlikely I would have thought) does anyone know if the club then HAS to sell the player if another club offers the money and the player wants to go - or could we simply tell them to go away.
