Snowball I swear this is true.

Newport County (when they were working their way back from non-league)
signed two midfielders midweek and it was their debut at home, Saturday

Can't remember the error but they both screwed up
in the first thirty seconds of the game

Within seconds the fans were screaming for them to both GO!
and singing to the manager, "You don't know what yer doing."

We won the game, won the league, but of course they are/were shit, right?

Was it on his debut or while he was on loan that Marcus made a horrendous gaffe, dived right over an easy shot and conceded.
I knew then he’d never amount to any kind of decent keeper....

Yeah, we know our stuff.

If there was a way, I'd ban comments on a player after an error, for say, three games.

I teach writing, via critiquing. I ban the writer of the piece from responding for a week.

If they respond immediately they crit the cries, defend the work, get upset and angry.

if made to wait a week, they post to say, how brilliant, incisive, and helpful were the critiques,

Stranded Apparently we have approached Monaco to try and get Pele back in on loan for another season.

Liked him a lot, but starting to get confused a little

If we have a holding M/F player then presumably we can't play
our two box-to-box guys.

That M/F showed a lot of promise. To my uneducated eye a holding midfielder
is relatively more fixed. (Unless a Pele could go on surging runs?)

It's like other places in R&G we look like we could get two wingers in but
who gets dropped to play them?

Pele can surge, did it a few times last season.

Pretty rare though. Would be a decent option though. Depends whether we can get him on a sensible loan arrangement.

Just don’t think he’s worth the money being reported.

At Monaco he’ll be on the roughly the same wage as the likes of Puscas and Moore. But he’ll probably be a back up here to Rino / Laurent. Where’s the logic in that?

I guess a loan is low risk - he’s an ‘ok’ player. But if we aren’t careful we will end up in the same position as last year (back up players like Gunter and Gmac creaming in the coin as reserve players).

All about licence though. Showed he could do it when he was there to sit, so give him licence and I'm sure it'll be grand.

Think Pele would relegate Laurent to the bench. But that would be ok. Give him plenty of sub appearances, bound to be an injury / suspension / loss of form at some point. Makes it a transition season to bring him up to Championship legend gently.

Not keen personally, he is 28 on high wages with 3 years left on his contract at Monaco so there is no point in an option to buy. We would be better taking a punt on a lower league player on less wages as back up or a youngster on loan with an option to buy.
Don’t get me wrong he would do a job but it is not sustainable.

I could name 3 players I would rather have for less money.
Lewis Baker is one we could probably buy and give a home. or loan with option to buy
Ryan Wintle from Crewe young, exciting and cheap.
John Lundstram last year of contract at Sheffield Utd low contract 4000 per week and refusing a new contract and they are open to offers.(what a dream that would be.)

There is no way that Lewis Baker earns less than Pele. :| Reported that Baker is on £40k+ a week.

I think we have to remember that pretty much any details about wages, fees, contracts mentioned by fans are at best wild guesses.

Ah right I see, the way people go on about wages on here, you'd think that they had seen the players payslips...

Reported in a lot of places he is on 20k a week which is still a lot, Pelé is on 30k apparently but the long and short of it is Chelsea probably would sell for a couple of million, he is 25 not 28.
If I was in charge though really I would be going for Lundstram.

‘Reported’ ‘apparantly’
It’s all wild guesswork. Is Pele’s 30k in £ or € ? Before or after tax ? French or English tax ? Basic or after bonuses ? What bonuses ?
Would Chelsea ‘probably’ sell for £2 million ? Would that be with a 50% sell on clause ?
Of course this is just a fan waffle board and we all throw in stuff that we think might be right because we saw it on Twitter, or in a newspaper, or on FIFA but we really don’t have a clue and constructing arguements for buying certain players based on a web of invented ‘facts’ is no more than fluff. Probably explains why the various expert fan scenarios around transfers never actually happen....

Pele was a great fit for the 4-1-4-1 formation that was so successful over the Christmas period, was very effective at breaking the lines and created a real solid base in front of the back four

However, he seemed to struggle quite a bit in a two man midfield, arguably put in the worst individual performance of the season last year at home to Wigan

Also has limitations on the ball, seems a bit slow in possession and moving the ball on. Would agree with Zip, he’d be a useful squad player, particularly in away games where he seemed a lot more effective last season but it needs to be at a sensible agreement

Wouldnt mind him back, but would prefer actual new players to come in and give the squad a bit of impetus

Haven't you seen those 'fans' annual appraisals at work?

"Boo-boy Smith is the most unique employee that I have ever had work for me, in that he has never made a mistake, even when joining a new team and under intense pressure."

Yay. ANOTHER central midfielder!

Ok so he was good, but weren't we saying we were well impressed by Rino and Laurent?

Pele is good for sure, but how many do we need?

How about bringing in a proper winger so we don't need to play non-wingers out wide, if money is a problem, which it is.
