Bournemouth are thrilled to announce the signing of Nat Phillips on loan until the end of the season.

Surely shuts the door on any lingering hopes that #ReadingFC had of signing Rhys Williams on loan.

Liverpool wanted to keep Phillips or Williams as fifth choice centre-back and the former has now left.

To be perfectly honest, I'm actually quite glad we haven't signed him. Our defensive issues are not going to go away with a teenage centre back who has, what, 20 first team appearances to his name?

The names that have been linked over the last couple of days are players that are probably League One quality and I'd probably put Hein in that category as well. We'd be better off just shutting our doors now and saying nothing will happen, I'd prefer that over this lot.

Agree with this. I feel signing Rhys Williams would have been the final piece of the relegation jigsaw. If we can’t sign an experienced CB then there’s little point as I’d rather see our own youngsters given the chance.

Seems like Bournemouth have found another way to put a spanner in our transfer dealings

Yes, half a season on loan at Swansea and only 5 apps, hardly what I’d hope to see of a player coming into Reading’s massive defensive mess.

Still Reading can sign free agents after today to cover the defensive and attacking problems.

Josh Sims is still without a club….

Talk Reading reporting that Moore is going to Stoke with Tom Ince coming to us - presumably both on loan until the end of the season. Ince would be the replacement for Puscas.

Ince isn't a striker.

Based on what we’ve seen under Pauno this season neither is Puscas.

He has played as a winger, attacking midfielder and as a striker. Ideally we needed a central striker but expect this is the best option available. And if he scores at least 2 before the end of the season, he will have more than replaced Puscas.

Why not Ince for Moore, a Puscas replacement and a CB?

Derby's Lucas Plange looks set for a £1m move to Crystal Palace. Maybe sneak in here with a loan move until the end of the season? I know it's another youngster, but he's done well at Derby since he broke through and would be a solid option for us.

He's already heading back to Derby on loan as part of the agreement.

Is it really a dream? We've been rumoured to be chasing a CB in the last week of the window, you wouldn't think we'd sell Puscas unless we had a replacement lined up and obviously Ince for Moore has come out of the blue. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that it could happen, although it is unlikely.

Still just holding hope we can also agree a deal for a CB and a striker replacement for Puscas, certainly the former rather than the latter though if I had to choose between them.

Rodrigo Ely has left Nottingham Forest without making an appearance. My football manager head coming on here but he was a decent player when I signed him once, possibly an option for 6 months?

Omar Rekik has also seen a loan deal from Arsenal to Stoke fall through as the latter couldn't move players on in order to facilitate the deal. Given our affiliation with Arsenal, maybe another one worth a punt?

It's getting late in the day.

The Chronicle has reported that three top end Championship clubs made firm enquiries for John Swift today and that he rejected all approaches as he feels he has a job to finish at Reading and doesn’t want to leave with the club’s status up in the air.

If that is true, then fair play to the man!
