Defensive Cover

by blythspartan » 25 Feb 2022 08:32

The guvnor has intimated in the local press that we maybe in the market for a defender but I have no idea who we could sign. My cousin reckons Zeki Fryers (never heard of him) but his sauce is always rubbish tbh. It could be a really important signing for us so any ideas?

Big step up from National League Stockport county, where he bailed out after four months.

That's some decline right there.

2011–2012 Manchester United 2 (0)
2012–2013 Standard Liège 7 (0)
2013–2014 Tottenham Hotspur 7 (0)
2014–2017 Crystal Palace 9 (0)
2015 → Rotherham United (loan) 10 (0)
2015 → Ipswich Town (loan) 3 (0)
2017–2019 Barnsley 27 (1)
2019–2021 Swindon Town 32 (1)

Christ alive that’s a major downward spiral. I just can’t think who we can bring in. I would have said Andre Wisdom but I think he’s on trial somewhere else.

I wonder if Danzell Gravenberch is free.

Wrong side and old, but el mohamedy always impressed me when I saw him.

Could do a job for a few weeks if fit, knows the league, etc.

That’s a good shout or possibly Winston Reid. The main problem I see is finding someone who’s ready to hit the ground running.

Elmo lives locally, BUT is spending most of his time abroad commentating. Pretty certain he wouldn't want to play for the £1k a week we'd be allowed to offer. He's certainly on more than that with his other career.

I noticed that, someone who I'm a big fan of, Ryan Tafazolli has fallen out of favour suddenly at Wycombe. Probably one of their key men, dropped for a 21 yr old. Not sure if he could be a loan option if it's a discipline issue, but he'll be local although wages probably a stumbling block.

Our limit is £8.5k, supposedly

Loans are not an option, only players who were not in a contract at the end of January are allowed.

Not sure how much he makes commentating but I doubt it's a fortune.

Ding, dong!

#ReadingFC have taken former Wigan and AFC Wimbledon defender Terell Thomas on trial. Centre back Thomas left Crewe by mutual consent in January and lined up for @RFCAcademy at Wolves last evening https://t.co/C8spXBylJZ

Jeez. He left Crewe because he couldn’t get in their side.....a side fighting relegation to League two. Surely we can do better than this....

Terrell Thomas - apparently wanted by Barnsley, Hulll and Blackburn last summer, played 19 games for Crewe up until January at which time he left by mutual - maybe didn't fancy living up there any more who knows but he's fit and he's a defender, that'll do for me.

Didn’t we concede a lot against Wolves?

quick scout round suggests he is pretty tall. player of the season for Wimbledon the year before last, had a nasty case of pneumonia last year. Had a fair bit of interest in the summer, so not quite sure why he ended up at Crewe, or why he has left them.

Its not a bad player to take a look at on paper
