PATRIQT Hendrick in L1 would be a much more valuable player than in the Championship, and we can hardly be fussy. If he wants to stay and if we can afford him, it's a no brainer. Going into pre-season with 16 players and some will want to leave means we really can't be that fussy.

The biggest issue with Hendrick is he's still under contract at Newcastle next season - so he'll either have to be bought from Newcastle (I'd imagine there would be other players we would be looking at if we have to pay a fee for him - especially as he's 31 now) or would have to have his loan renewed (are there better players we could get in on loan?).

Hendrick is shit. I don't want losers like him near the club in league one. Rather give Osario a go and that's saying something

All there are in League 1 are lower league cloggers who make Jeff Hendrick look like Luka Modric.

We were linked to him last summer but couldn't pay a fee.

On loan at Dundee and scored tonight as they clinch the title and promotion.

Difference is that then he'd have only been bought to play in the Under 21s and see if he was eventually good enough to get to Championship level.

Now he's the sort of player we'd be stuck with putting in the first team squad.

Right, as we are in L1. So Champ fringes player becomes squad player or more, develops and we either make profit or he helps us up.

It is literally because the club stopped doing these sort of deals that we are in this shit.

We already have those at the club in Kelvin E and Clarke. Let's back our own instead of bringing people in who are the same age and will be in their way.

If Carroll is staying then we only need one more striker in, preferably a consistent League 1 goalscorer with a bit of pace, with the aforementioned Clarke and Ehibatiomhan deputising.

We should back our own youngsters instead of wasting the precious little resources we do have on kids with underwhelming numbers in the Scottish second tier.

Cole Stockton almost certain to leave on a free transfer, proven goal scorer at this level. May be worth a punt.

How is 12 in 19(10) underwhelming?

I reckon getting Sam Smith back might be a decent shout, i believe he is out of contract this summer, proven goal scorer at L1 level , 28 league goals in a struggling Cambridge side in 2 seasons.

I'm led to believe from STHs he's already signed a pre-contract elsewhere. Don't know it's definitely true though.

Portsmouth, MK Dons, Preston and Wycombe are all after him apparently.

New manager odds, especially for a club of our size, can't be read too much into. But Wilder has just gone straight in as bookies favourite at 1/3

Got a mate who is a Hull fan who has said the club are moving on left back Callum Elder and has said the futures of both of Tobias Figueirdo and Ryan Woods are both up in the air this summer. Personally, all 3 are potentially players I'd look at this summer. Not outstanding or anything, but should be solid enough players for L1 and the former has recent experience getting out of the league. And he's actually a steady away LB imo.
