Coppell confirmed tonight that he expects one more player to sign before the deadline, and that as far as he's concerned 'the deal is done'.

Which means there should be more news tomorrow!

Fair enough, it's 107 afterall. But no, he spoke individually about Halford and Benett and said that one other deal should be completed. Of course it could be another young hopeful... :?

Hopefully it'll be Duberry, based on Bikey's performance tonight, in fact i think we should get Kromheer back in.

The Sun Reading boss Steve Coppell wants to sign 21-year-old Luton defender Leon Barnett.

Maybe this could be the last one.

Heard correctly; reported accurately.

We shall see.

I'm not sure I can see the point of another defender at this stage. We're actually lightest in central mid, but the consistency of Sidwell and Harper and the sound job Gunnarsson does when he comes in have hidden that fact.

Halford is more than capable of covering in central midfield. I sincerely hope it is another centre back because Bennett won't be up to full fitness for a couple of weeks and on the evidence of tonight Bikey isn't up to it at the back but can IMO provide an option in midfield. I think it will be Duberry, he's on top of his game at the moment, will provide experience and won't cost the earth. Don't think it will be Barnett because I can't see us splashing out 2 £2m+ fees in one go.

Out of the many players mentioned on here as being possible royal targets, the Luton lad Burnett wasnt'in the Luton side or on the bench this evening and as far as I know he isnt injured, might give a hint as to who the mystery player is ?

I thought Burnett was injured a couple fo matches back and that it was quite serious.

Muamba from Arsenal would be good - I'd like to see a central midfielder if I'm honest.

I do rate the lad but do we need him and at that price????

We now have Bennett, as well as Bikey, Sodje, Sonko, Ingimarsson, Gunnarsson, Pearce, Halford. (this is presuming Brown is going as part exchange)

Lot of money for someone who may not start and would leave us a little bit top heavy in that position.
