I know we can go overboard with this (it was only 15 minutes after all), but can anyone tell me they've seen another signing made by a team in our mini-league in Januray so far who has impressed as much or is likely to have a bigger impact in the coming months than Matejovski?

ive said all along that he is an absolute bargain, he is an established player for a national team better than england, which technically makes him better than gerrard

Matejovsky had a good ten minutes on the pitch, but do you realisticly think he will run about like that for 90 minutes?.

i thought the thing about matajovsky was the skill on the ball and the three defence splitting passes he made that oozed class that impressed rather than his ability to run about
think he gave the ball away for their 1st, but other than that i think he looked ruddy brilliant
as for cisse, thought he was immense, it was like watching sonko or bikey on a good day.
nbot getting excited, but those two went some way to allaying my fears over the defence and midfield.
just jimmy kebab playing on the right to go, and were sorted!

I'm glad a 0-2 defeat is enough to calm everyone's fears of relegation.
In the real world though we will still be missing a right winger and gunnarsson will still not be good enough to replace Sidwell adequately.

Well said, of course it is and further adds to the aura of integrity that surrounds Coppell.

(Without giving away useful information to our competitors) he is always honest, whatever the situation and subject.

That knowledge that you can trust the bloke is so refreshing as in almost any other sport, whatever anybody says, I take it with a pinch of salt these days - it's all smoke and mirrors. Honesty and integrity has been corrupted in sport by the lure of money. Except at Reading FC!!!

Why sign a right-winger when you can play a striker there? Coppell plays Doyle, Pards did it with Cureton, and didn’t Burns play McIntyre on the wing too?

With Little potentially back in March and Doyle/Hunt doing an effective if not brilliant job out on the right wing, then I'd say our first priority is a defensive midfielder. If we can get a right winger and a centre back with real Premiership quality as well, then all the better, but right now, we HAVE to find someone who can fill that second centre midfield position. Harper, IMO, has been doing a great job in covering his position and the position next to him, but it's obvious that we need someone who is prepared to play a holding role in midfield.

Assuming Harper is not the man for that role where would he go in a new midfield with Matejovski plus a holding player? Can he be effective wide right?

I don't personally think that Harper's place is up for grabs when Matejovsky has played 20 minutes or so for Reading.
