The Adkins Sack/Resignation Countdown Thread

by Lacoste » 03 Nov 2013 10:26

I'm going for the 25th November by way of resignation.

He is making a bit of a mess of things and the board don't really help the situation.

Do you think that there is no chance at all that Adkins will have enough and just walk away? Especially if promises are broken and he has no money to spend?

Do you paint your face when you go to the football?

There is no way with the club in its present unsure situation they will sack Adkins, as for him resigning, depends on what is going on behind the scenes and as has been said before what broken promise issues there are.

No way he'll be sacked. Feel sorry for the guy - you can see the passion but if he's constantly shouting at the mugs cos they aren't doing anything like what he wants, it always results in the Pearce/Morro/Kelly/Gunter f*** ups and there is no one to replace them, what can he do? Walk away and put it down to a bad career move sold to him on russian bullsh1t? - Most likely.

Why would Adkins walk, we're 5th in the table for Christ's sake!

If the ownership situation proves to be a problem, as many are concerned it is or it is becoming, and next summer see's us starting to sell our top players to balance the books, then and only then can I possibly see Adkins feeling it may be time to jump a sinking ship. He could then claim the club broke several promises etc, and leave with his reputation still in tact.

If Madejski is in full control again, then he certainly wont sack Nigel Adkins. He didn't want to sack Brendan Rodgers - that was Nigel Howe's call. Madejski would see Adkins as the ideal man to take the club forward and bring through the kids as we sell one or two big earners each summer to reduce the vast wage bill (by SJM's standards) and fill that annual black hole until a new new owner is found.

For me Adkins is a top manager at this level and the longer he is here the better.

We're 5th in the league, have one of the strongest squads in the division, and have a new multi-million pound training facility on the way..the planning of which Adkins was involved in. Yet some of you seriously expect him to be sacked or to walk away?

And to think we used to look at fans of other clubs and laugh..

Whilst I agree with most of that, that new training ground (if building actually goes ahead) will take 3 years before it's ready. Not many managers last 3-4 years at a club these days, so the chances of Nigel being here when it's up and running are very slim in any case.

Tbf my post was more aimed at the dozens of people on this board who have been hinting at similar points without your ironic tone.

Only one of his signings has been properly fit for a while which doesn't help.
