... definitely something amiss at Eversley - they have pulled out of tomorrow's friendly @ Cantley vs 'Moles' : Welwyn Garden City from S.Mids Div One have stepped in to replace them at short notice.

KO 15:00h

Ian Davies has returned to BInfield from Marlow and two other promising new faces could be in evidence (Dickens from Flackwell Heath - scored 31 for the Hellenic Prem side last season and winger Jordan Brown from HIghmoor/IBIS .)

AthleticoSpizz Glenn Little 38 departs Wealdstone for Heybridge Swifts

Jody Brown, the Heybridge Swifts manager who recruited Glen has now cleared off to Grays Athletic. Coincidentally the article on the Swifts website which trumpeted Glen's arrival has now been removed. It could be just a cock-up but...... Interesting to read of any further developments next week.

Errr......more conspiracy than cock up.

Nice of Grays to use an RFC picture of Glen

Congrats, had a good day - lovely pitch as ever, and your 11 and 9 were very decent. Play like that every week, keep the team together and you will be promoted. Thought your youngsters (U10s?) were excellent as well.

Can't make it now :( but I'm sure the other Dads Army members will put up spirited resistance, drinking your beers, sitting in your new seats etc.

No 9 is still only 19 and (in my estimation) has wasted much of the last 2 years through reportedly having a preference for his mates and beer to training and football.

He's shown a lot of promise since I first saw him as a stroppy 16 year old with a lot of attitude ready to take on hairy arsed 30 year old centre backs.

He did grow up a bit last year but still didn't get much of a run. If he continues the slow upward curve he could develop into a very good player.

No 11 is a real live wire, with a big box of tricks to call on.

I thought our midfield controlled things very well with No 6 & 7 Minhas and Sheehan coping very well with your more experienced lads.

Slough really were pretty poor on the day for a team 2 levels higher - my oh my, the final ball / crosses were absolutely appalling!!!

... bit late for anyone thinking of choosing a PSF locally this PM - sorry - blame the heat  - here's a brief selection of what's on within reasonable range :

Alresford v Tadley
Badshot Lea v Hampton & R (@ Ash Utd FC)
Bedfont Sports v Flackwell Heath
Bracknell v Holmer Green @ Cantley
Epsom Athletic v RTFC (@ Chessington & Hook FC)
Fairford v Binfield
Fleet Town v Hayes & Y
Hartley W v Wokingham & Emmbrook
Knaphill v Marlow (@ Bisley FC out beyond jn 3 of M3 on A322 - nice set up - usually have a big BBQ on the go :) )
Maidenhead Utd v Sluff (+ Beer Festival?)
Newbury v Pewsey Vale
Penn & T v Uxbridge
Thame v Risborough
Wantage v Oxford City
Windsor v Staines

... pondering a little trip out this PM but won't go be going far - too hot 'n sweaty out there (and indoors too) probably just a short trundle along the M4 to Faraday Rd.
- popped down to Memorial Playing Field, Hartley Wintney on Tue eve for the visit of the 'Kingfishers'. Visitors looked very good for the first hour and had some real threat up front - much travelled front man Yash Romeo (would probably be quicker to list the local sides he HAS'NT turned out for 8) )was tying everything together up front and a young HW side looked a bit overwhelmed. They improved after the break and started opening up as some of Thatcham's older legs flagged a bit - ended 3-5.

... scores from yesterday's Friendlies:

Badshot Lea 2-5 Hampton & R (@ Ash Utd FC)
Bedfont Sports 1-4 Flackwell Heath
Bracknell 4-2 Holmer Green
Didcot Town 0-1 Oxford Utd
Epsom Athletic 6-2 RTFC
Fairford 2-8 (EIGHT) Binfield – (hat-trick for Davies I.)
Fleet Town 1-1 Hayes & Y
Hartley W 1-4 Wokingham & Emmbrook
Knaphill 0-0 Marlow
Maidenhead Utd 3-2 Slough
Newbury 3-0 Pewsey Vale
... went along to this - Newbury looked a bit more potent than when I saw them rolled over by the then league leaders Ardley, back in April. Carried quite a threat going forward and far more robust at the back - albeit vs STEP06 opponents yesterday.
Penn & T 1-4 Uxbridge
Thame 4-1 Risborough
Wantage 1-6 Oxford City
Windsor 1-4 Staines

Results from last nights 'kickabouts'

Ascot Utd 1-1 Fleet Spurs
Amersham Town 1-6 Aylesbury United
Ashford Town (Mx) {NINE} 9-0 Staines Lammas
Basingstoke Town 1-1 Newport County
Bedfont Sports 3-0 Bedfont & Feltham
Chesham United 2-2 Wycombe Wanderers
Didcot Town 0-2 Oxford City
Fleet Town 2-2 Bracknell Town
Hanworth Villa FC 1-2 Binfield Town
Holmer Green 2-7 Burnham Res
Holyport 2-2 Marlow
Mortimer 0-3 Reading Town
.... got to this - was nearer a 19:00 KO - both sides played well. Not sure that reflects too positively on RTFC - Mortimer two steps below - were durable and the Town attack looked a bit top heavy and somewhat blunt . Tbf it was pretty hot for football even that late in the evening. Town are probably getting use to having big Carl Davies up front. Was goalless up 'til about the hour mark but following a few changes, RTFC finally started to open the home side up. Brought Graham Lewis on and a few smaller faster attacking midfielders to supplement his guile and mobility and things started happening. Eventually Town were worthy of their three goal win and Mortimer only threatened to score during a brief spell near the end.
Looked as if their little club house was open for refreshments but since I was sat on a bench down the shady end of the Alfred Palmer Memorial Ground  seemed churlish not to hop through the hedge for a swift half in the Turners Arms at H/T. 8)

Penn & Tylers Gn 0-2 Flackwell Heath
Spelthorne Sports 2-0 Egham Town
Thame United 0-2 Aylesbury
Thatcham Town 1-0 Wantage Town
Windsor 1-3 Highmoor Ibis

And it would appear the Windsor FC's attempt to field a side in the East Berks League has become an unmitigated mess as they have all buggered off back to Huntercombe.

What makes you say that?

I thought they were associated anyway? Windsor FC appears as "Senior Team" on Huntercombe's website...

Royalist What kit is being used this year?

At the Slough match the announcer stated that the new kit would be available by the start of the season. I assume he meant the union jack-style one. Lovely.

The announcer is the Chairman so one would bloody well hope he was correct.

I have my doubts though.
