Never seen him play so can’t comment on that part. But the fact Newcastle wanted him in January suggests he’s got something there in his locker. Hopefully if he does sign he’ll be a bit better than his international teammate, Vydra(albeit he was clearly lacking confidence).

Was thinking yesterday (and today) of what kind of strikers we need.
One of our better combinations was Lovell and Nogan, both small but quick and good finishers.
Later we had the physical Kitson plus the all-rounder Doyle (probably the best combination we have ever had) and then Shane Long, a great competitor, strong and quick but a hit-and-miss finisher.

In recent times we have gone along with the current fashion of a lone striker-one who runs about a lot and hopes to get support from an attacking midfielder or one of two wingers.
It will be interesting to see which type(s) of striker Clement goes for and then we might have a better idea of how we are going to play.
Bod andPog have both worked hard, and often with little support, without looking dangerous.

When Edwards played elsewhere he was known for adding support to a striker from midfield but his best days appear to have gone so if we are to play with a lone striker such as this Czech I do hope that we also sign a box-to-box midfielder as well otherwise you so often end up with a long-ball forward hoping that the striker will be a able to do everything on his own-even Harry Kane can't do that.

If he has a good World Cup we’ll have no chance in signing him.

IMO the Quinn/Lovell partnership was better than Lovell/Nogan. I've always been a fan of the big man/small man strike partnership.

Just don't see the point of this type of signing when we have someone like Andrija Novakovich scoring goals regularly in a similar league.

Rather money goes on a proven English striker or creative midfielder etc.

Has novakovic scored 7 in 13 at international level? Has novakovic scored 4 in 8 in the Europa league?

Yes novakovic has had a good season, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves, he’s still a very young, inexperienced player. Yes he may come good, but let’s not pretend we can rely on him to score an abundance of goals next season.

No we already have Internationals and experienced senior players who struggle to do that....

Does Novakovic command £15k+ a week in wages?

He's 21 - not 17. If other clubs successfully produce young first teamers, lets give them a go to hey? More so because he is proven at a certain level, compared to the likes of Barrett, Kelly, Smith who are just thrown in to sink or swim etc.

100% would give Nova' a chance next year. But think we do need another striker as well.

New Striker
Novakovich
Bodvarssson
Yann
Loader/Smith, one going out on loan.

would be how I'd see us line up next year in priority order

I've got no issue with giving him a go, but we need to sign another striker in case Novakovic doesn't play well and the championship is above his level

I think a good transition for Nova would be as an impact sub to come off the bench. Would give us an option to go two upfront to push for the win maybe. Mind you, I'd also start him over Aluko any day of the week.

We need a new striker because Bod isn't a target man, Yann is crocked, Novakovich only has 1 season in the Dutch second tier and Smith and Loader are inexperienced.
