Who can save us

by Delboy » 02 Sep 2018 10:35

The whole club is in crisis, Sir Johns legacy is slowly eroding. The only way forward is someone to speak and influence the Chinese owners to get rid of Gourlay and bring in some one who cares about the club . Not sure if Sir John or anyone else has that influence, but they must be losing a fortune.

Honestly, realistically no one. We’d need a really good man manager and motivator and then still 3 or 4 actually good players. In this league once you string a few wins together it’s relatively easy to build up a bit of confidence and a winning mentality to carry a limited team a long way. Look at Cardiff for example. Organisation and work ethic combined with a couple of quality players go a long way.

I do like Clement I do, but every shroud of evidence - anecdotal or self-observed has suggested that whilst he’s a very accomplished coach and assistant, he hasn’t aptly demonstrated adequate managerial ability to suggest he is the right man to either keep us in this division, or get us up from the one bellow.

Why is it Gorlay's or the owner's fault?

The club has been in a losing rut since 2012, bar one season.

I don't believe even Sam Allardyce would save us

Maybe that's what we need for a season, who knows?

Well after Graham Potter my second choice was Nigel Clough. After what he did at Burton and Sheffield with helping them not only escape relegation when they were on their knees, but got them to 2 cup semi finals I think he would do a good job. Did a decent job at Derby but I always felt the achievements of his dad there weighed too heavy.

i am not his biggest fan but maybe Holloway. He did a good job at QPR last season and he is capable of forming a TEAM out of bang average/poor players.

I am a fan of PC but he's been used to working with top class players in his various coaching roles and I doubt he has the credentials to stop the rot.

I really wouldn’t want Holloway. For now Clement remains in charge. I want him to turn it around but there is zero evidence to suggest he will and think he will be gone next month.

You wanted Graham Potter? Why haven't you mentioned that before?

It`s really quite sad that people think we are doomed after just 6 games. I guess it`s the mentality that has been drummed into us over 3 of the last 4 seasons.

No its 14 games. 2 wins. More points with the Stam team that he inherited and had to change. Not even played a top team this season and still not won.

I think the best plan is to get a Mad Dog type character as an assistant to shout at everyone and put the players on a training regime to get fit enough to do a high press and at least give the impression of actually trying.

The players are the problem and they need their collective arses kicking.

Very much my view. I had hoped the early start to pre season training would do the trick. Whilst we appear fitter this season there is still a real lethargy around the squad.
They need a collective rocket.
