Roy Keane would belie the notion there isn’t any manager in world that could do anything with this lot.
(Oh, and nor could all of Pep, Sir Alex, etc, combined).
Keane would divide fan base and be painful for some, esp if he came in and did well.

Been watching Meyler on Youtube recently concentrating on Fifa 19 and opening packs.

He is not concentrating on football and the club.

Do you feel that he has to go?

Genuinely curious here.

Typically, training is 3 hours a day. Bearing in mind they are not supposed to exert themselves physically, outside of training - what do you think a footballer should be allowed to do, during his free time?

Meyler has been doing all that Fifa stuff for years. It's no different than getting good at snooker, and considerably less dangerous than getting addicted to pornography or gambling.

I'd be relaxing by getting a massage or if up to it having a swim or doing some light work in the gym. Being paid to be a professional sportsman is an honour and he is in the 1% of football players who are professional on this planet. He needs to focus on his footballing career and not his FIFA one to try and find some sort of form. He isn't going to find form playing FIFA like a 16 year old kid.

I'm hoping you're actually trolling here.

Do you seriously think Meyler thinks FIFA helps his skills?

IT'S A HOBBY!

As it is, professional sports people have to frame every physical activity, every thing they eat, every thing they drink, every thing they do or say in public, in terms of how it might affect their career. They can't take their eye off that ball for a single day, for twenty years of their lives.

And you want them to do, or have, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING outside of that, for fear they might actually enjoy it?

Jesus oxf*rd Christ, you are some tosser.

I want him to be a professional footballer worthy of being paid 25k a week. He isn't going to do that by playing FIFA or by sycophants like you kissing his arse and accepting his pathetic displays.

I want HIM to focus on his playing of the actual game, he has no business doing anything else at the moment. If you are in form and giving Reading FC your best on a weekly basis you can do as you please, play FIFA all you like but not when you are in the kind of form he is.

Carry on blowing smoke up his arse you little oik.

I'd have thought most manager's would be delighted if the worst their players did in the spare time was playing a few computer games tbh

I've been one of Meyler's biggest critics since he joined. Currently he is on international duty, probably in a hotel in Dublin somewhere, chilling post training on his bed playing PS4 and Tweeting between meals and sleeping.

I've disregarded him as a Reading player now, along with McShane and Edwards. If it weren't for his wages I'd probably be completely indifferent.

Does Edwards still play for us?N Never knew that.

It is wasters like those 3 that will drive us into administration should we get relegated.

He was actually a pundit for the Wales game last night. Watched him for 5 mins before it actually dawned on me who it was and he still played for us

What does "sycophants" have to do with it? It's not like I'm following his FIFA exploits, blowing him kisses. Unlike you, I've never sat down and watched any of it.

Nor am I defending his performances on the pitch.

I'm just pointing out that not allowing him any kind of downtime isn't going to make him play better, and is far more likely to make it worse. And he's picked a downtime hobby that isn't bad for his health, his career, or his club.

But that's not good enough for you. You want him to suffer.

He is where he is because he's talented and has worked hard to get to this position. Unlike being born rich, you don't get to be a professional footballer without putting in the effort. It's probably once of the most meritocratic professions on the planet. If you're no good or you won't work, you won't make it. Waffling about "it's an honour" is garbage, it's not like his name was drawn from a hat.

It's like you're miserable, so you want everyone else to be miserable too.

Or you're riddled with jealousy.

Or both.

It's really not players like McShane, Meyler and Edwards who'll damage us financially on relegation. It's the likes of Moore, Barrow and Aluko

Aluko yeah but we all know everything about him is an absolute disaster

Moore probably, far from convinced on Barrow.

McShane, Edwards and Meyler might be of use in a lower league, and could potentially be shifted... I just don't see them as being particularly big financial millstones, or particularly undesirable at a lower level... they'll not step down while they're in the Championship with us, but if they've already stepped down with us maybe. And they should have relegation wage reductions... if they haven't then there will be far more damaging players who also don;t.

McShane and Edwards are out of contract anyway

Would be no difficulty shifting Barrow at all

Well if they're out of contract then they certainly aren't going to be a problem in League One next year are they. And glad you can see the future about Barrow.
