As a Dolan ender, the change has been marked.
Never used to hear a peep out of the East Stand (probs acoustics), but now there is some decent atmosphere being gener8d in the South it's even encouraging noise at the other end.

https://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/2019/m ... nge-ahead/

Following an unprecedented level of interest since its supporter-initiated inception a little more than a year ago, we are delighted to announce that Club 1871 is very much here to stay. And in the South Stand next season, we are offering our cheapest Adult Season Ticket.

So many have made the move over to the South Stand to join the growing group on matchdays in recent months, and now you can have a permanent spot there; our cheapest Adult Season Ticket for 2019-20 will be priced at just £299 - exactly £13 per match.

Wow!

I am a fan of this scheme and all that and knew what was being proposed but they do run the risk of watering this down to what it should all be about. Fans wanting to create an atmosphere and sing. Those on a budget might fancy it instead and just sit there.

Yep, that's great to hear.
1871 likely played a part in keeping us up, the players responded, etc.

Had totally forgotten about this. No, I didn't.

I went way back through my emails and they sent one saying we had to collect it at the ground or use a code to get it sent to us. Completely missed that. Shame. At least they did something good with the money.

I haven't sat in the South Stand for something like 12-13 years. I was wondering, how convenient is it for having a drink and chat at half time? The one thing about the East Stand is that the Jazz cafe and seating outside make that easy.

Hopefully with all these changes they will also review that ridiculous safety gate.

Would those on a budget not have already shifted to the ED which has been cheaper than the East for a while ? There’s not a massive difference between the ED and 1871 cost wise.

Plus it has already been made clear that fans who shifted their STs over this season will get priority at getting an ST there, so if you have already moved across you are likely to be inclined to join in with the singing etc. It is possible that you may end up with a few going over but most STHs will have been in their seat for a few seasons and like where they sit - is the thought of saving a maximum of 76 quid really going to sway them when they will have no guarantee of getting a seat they like each week?

We (well some do) about a £5 shirt - so every chance!!

But hope it continues to be a massive success.

Glad we took 1871’s advice and not only moved our season ticket seats for the final game but permanently. With prices so cheap next season in the south stand it could well end up 80% or more season ticket holders. What a shame we can’t move Y25/26 into the south as well and put the away fans in Y25/26.

Yep. Otherwise a decent chant. I never join in on that line or just repeat so we tell them.

FWIW the steward wouldn't let me store my suitcase anywhere, so I ended up hiding it in a hedge behind the carpark.

Enjoyed myself in the South Stand on Sunday, was significantly louder further up the stand where I went in the second half.
