Sanguine This has become an abortion of a thread.

Welcome to Reading, Lucas!
I wonder how many players have played their last game for one club, and scored, against the club they subsequently joined?

Did Nick Blackman score against us in the FA Cup before joining?

Good shout - that was his last game for Sheffield United, but he didn't score.

2 world wars, 1 world cup I had to recheck, but this is the Joao who scored in a 10 man team against us.

You must have a terrible memory - everyone knew this

I remember when he scored thinking "oh look that's the guy we are linked with but will never buy in a million years".

Then yes I forgot it happened because life.

Ah, that was the only example that sprang to mind.

The Hope Akpan example too, above, showing me that playing against a team and then joining them probably isn't as rare as I thought, maybe scoring is though!

Edit: Akpan signed at the same time at Nick Blackman - there can't be many other instances of a Premier League side debuting two players at the same time who have come straight out of League One.

Snowflake Royal Can't believe I have to do this. Black is the absence of colour, where all wavelengths are absorbed. White is all wavelengths reflected, so all colours.
There's probably a joke in there about the irony of some "white" people* referring to "black" people as "coloured" when white is all colours and black is none.... but I'm not going to risk making it in case it's mistakenly taken as being racist instead of being a joke at the expense of racists.

*In my experience, only my Nan used to refer to black people as coloured but not in a racist way, just a way of describing them. Her generation also referred to the corner shop as the paki shop, which didn't go down well once when she said it in one of those shops and the owner said they were indian sikh's.

Old Man Andrews Joao confirmed.

Reckon this will be a spectacular success or a spectacular failure. Can't see a middle ground on this one.
Surely the middle ground is Nick Blackman, a failure then one great half a season before we sell him for a massive profit.

Interesting thing from the Joao interview on the site is it appears he was aware of our interest a fair few weeks ago - so seems he was certainly a key target for Gomes.

CountryRoyal Brilliant. A ~1 in 4 striker is exactly what we need. Gomes is starting to piss me off signing all his mediocre Portuguese mates.

Brain Traysers Viewed as a JDB replacement, this is probably an upgrade.

I'm not convinced we will pay anything near £5m, the rumours seem to suggest there are loads of add ons for lofty goal targets, making team of the season etc. If we end up paying those then he will have been worth every penny
