Not sure if he posts on here but Reading fan Jack Stanley on Twitter kindly too the time create this table which shows the average placing of each team's opponents.

"Only one team has faced sides with more points after 10 games this season. In terms of the average position of teams that we have played against after ten games, 3rd toughest in the league."

In summary: we've had it tough, Swansea are class, Cardiff and Wednesday probably won't finish as highly as they are now.

Yep and in four games time we will probably have had the hardest start as we play three of the current top seven in Bristol City, Preston and Forest.

I'm probably being a bit thick here, but if we had beaten the 6 teams we had lost to, would the points of our opponents actually be 131, and therefore pretty far down the table?

Sure its not a coincidence that all the shite teams pretty much (Stoke, us, Millwall, Barnsley, Wigan) are near the top of that table - because they have all gifted the oppo a good amount of points

It would however suggest Hudders are having an absolute shocker so far. Fair play to Swansea though.

Hound Why isn’t it

Kelly out - Ejaria in
Bodvarsson out - Puscas in
Barrow out - Boye in?

Which makes it look a lot better

Barrow was let go due to the system Gomes wants to play. Same reason McCleary has been binned.

Haven’t tracked closely but last I saw Bod hasn’t scored a league goal and Kelly had been dropped altogether by their new clubs

Personally I’d have preferred to keep Barrow and McCleary around and play to Puscas/Meite/Joao’s strengths, but that’s a question for the manager not the recruitment

For a start we already had Ejaria last season and he plays in a different position to Kelly, if anything he's the Bacuna replacement.

Given the choice of Joao or Bodvarsson to partner Puscas, I'd rather have Bod. They also cost similar amounts whereas Puscas was a marquee signing.

Yet to see any indication that Boye is more suited to Gomes' system than Barrow.

in summary: we've had it tough,

all the table confirms is that we are not doing well. Liverpool have had it tough too, where are they in the premier league?

The way I look at it - out of the first 10 games we have played 3 teams in the current top 6.

We are 21st for a reason - we should have got more than 2 wins from the other 7 fixtures - that’s perspective

Yeah. if we need to play the bottom six to get wins, we'll likely be in the bottom six and deservedly so.

I think this is clutching at straws, every game in the championship is hard and competitive , every team can beat every one else. It's a wonderfully competitive football league in the true sense of the word.

We're simply at present not a very good football team.

Because Adam is closer to Kelly in terms of playing style than Ejaria is. Similarly, Joao is closer to Bodvarsson than Puscas is

Adam is playing the O'Shea role of senior player with experience able to bring something to the team, not necessarily week in week out and not necessarily on the pitch.

It isn't quite that black and white though, if we play the poorer teams earlier, the team gets a bit of confidence and momentum and then might not do so bad against the 'stronger' teams.

Last season we had to play something like 38 games against teams who finished above is in the table, whereas Sheffield United were able to only play 2 games.

Bit unfair isn't it?

But in the Championship there is a very fine line between the two on any given week. Look at the Stoke and Huddersfield squads for example, are they poor on paper? Arguably not. Preston are riding high with what is a very average squad on paper as are a much changed Swansea team.
The Championship isn't all about the talent in the squads it is about building momentum and grinding out a home 1-0 win or a 0-0 draw away from home. Other teams are much, much better than we are at that because they play systems and players to get results when they need them. What worries me about Gomes is that he cannot seems to address our soft centre and leakiness.

A great example to set kicking off at being subbed off then

This really. How many times do we come away against a team high up in the table and say “I have no idea how they’re so high, they’re not even very good”. Bristol, Swansea are two examples of that in the last two weeks. It’s because they’ve got a system they’re accustomed to and they’re well drilled. Gomes is overcomplicating his tactics for a division of this nature
