Pepe the Horseman
Zammo Sunderland are now managerless.

6th in the table, not exactly doing badly, but their fans seem pretty happy he's gone.

Saw on Twitter that only Liverpool and Man City have lost less games (in the top 4 divisions) since he took over. I guess there has been too many draws.

Indeed - just ten defeats in 75 games in charge, but 27 draws.

Bizarrely, he barely drew a game at St. Mirren, 13 draws and 25 defeats in 80 games, means he actually had a higher win rate at his former club.

According to Lyon's chairman Mourinho has chosen his next job, and it's in England. Can't see him going back to United, he won't go to Everton, so... Spurs?!

 love it, great stuff, and what with Jose promoting himself to the ranks of “Reading Fan”, management sackings are the way ahead for British football.

Now we could see just how good Parky is as a manager. Going to have to pretty good backing but fan expectation is going to weigh heavily though in the lower leagues should be able to get almost any player he wants to the club. Pressure is really on as well as anything other than promotion this season is likely to see another managerial change there in the summer. Good luck to him.

Parky should do well there, he is an excellent League 1 manager. Not sure he will be good for them long term but certainly should get them at least into the playoffs this season.

If you wanted a manager to get you out of L1 then Parky is your man - if he succeeds, next year will be the real test of his abilities.

Yeah this. I really hope he does well. After all the shit he had with Bolton he deserves to.

Was it the Secret Footballer who said that the only reason anyone ever signs for Sunderland is the money? Something about it being a footballing graveyard of unrealistic ambitions, impatient and obnoxious fan base and generally a miserable place to be.

L1 is the time to take over.

A club of their size, shouldn't be too hard to get the up, then shouldn't be too hard to finish at least mid-table in the Chump. Depending on how things go could then jump ship to a more stable club with better expectations having shown capability with a big club. Outside chance of a double promotion.

Fail to get them up this season and reputation is L1 is largely unharmed.

But, if you take into account the Secret Footballer theory, fail to get them up this season and he gets the sack with the addendum that "He couldn't even get Sunderland out of L1 with all their resources". But yeah, he gets a nice payoff because Sunderland pay over the odds because no-one really wants to go there.

Get them up and it's "They shouldn't have been there anyway with all their resources" and suddenly they're being expected to challenge at the top end of the Championship next season. It's a thoroughly toxic job IMO.
