Royals and Racers
Snowflake Royal
Royals and Racers Anyone remember it ?? 1st match at the Madejski stadium versus Luton 22nd August 1998. We won 3-0 with Grant Brebner scoring the 1st goal. A repeat of the scoreline on Saturday would be nice.

Yep. Didn't Fleck get one too?

One of only two teams to beat us in the 106 season too. I saw both of them

Fleck got the 3rd and McIntyre the 2nd
the attendance that day was over 18000 which i suppose wasn`t too bad as it was a Div 2 match and was far more than what we got at Elm Park

it was nye on a full house. Some of the turnstiles didn't register a lot of the punters, thus the official gate was incorrect.

Regrettably Stuart Hall was the compare for the day.

Royals and Racers As we are remembering- especially on Sunday 11th, does anyone remember the big staircase by the East stand that went from the upper level to the lower level. if my memory serves me right, the top was somewhere near the jazz cafe. it was a big H & S no no(in hindsight) and didn`t last long !!

Yes. It was promptly closed forever after the opening game and removed about a month or so later.

John Smith
boycey We should be smashing this rabble if we have any upwards vision.
3-0 . Puscas to get 2 .

Totally agree with this. They don't have any good players. They are dross.

They are not the most flashy or talented team but they usually play a solid 90 minute game. If we can match their energy and commitment we should be able to come out on top. The new Gaffer has the boys playing hard. 3-1 Good Guys. C'mon URZZZ

So dross they are a whole 1 point behind us? It's a game that I think we should and I think we will win. But I think you're being slightly complacent...

And return under a different name like you have done on a number of occasions.

I say let's reminisce rather than letting another thread descend in to arguments and girly snipes.
We're all (mostly) grown men aren't we?

I remember sitting in the upper west corner for this one with my mate and my mum. We had no idea where we were going or what the seats would be like but turns out there's not a bad view in the whole ground. Outside, everyone was milling about having a good look round. Lots of comments abound about missing Elm Park but here we were in a modern stadium and beating Luton by 3 goals brought back good memories.
It's good that we put in a performance to keep the crowd lively as there was no semblance of a concerted hardcore of singers back then.
Everyone was dotted about.
Interesting to see how we've evolved as a club and support.

Stuart Hall was cringe then before the revelations.

Anyway, a tight 2-1 to us based on last week's showing.

As ever, an enjoyable preview from Sutekh. Cheers.

In the 2005 season didn’t we just lose two League games ?Plymouth first game of the season, then Luton away late on ? I seem to recall it was on telly ?

21 points clear of 3rd in February is, quite frankly, oxf*rd ridiculous.

I remember a game at Kenilworth Road, probably in the sixties, when a Reading defender (Colin Meldrum?) ran back towards our goalkeeper (Artur Wilkie/Mike Dixon?) collided and as both lay on the ground, if not knocked out then very dazed, a nearby Luton player put the loose ball into the net. The Luton fans were happy, but we were far from happy as the goal was allowed. I know we lost but cannot remember the final score.

Reckon Derby are the only team capable of bottling a lead like that.

Yes, as referenced by me above. I went to both.

1-2 and 3-2 I think
