Hendo Liverpool's Carabao Cup quarter-final to take place on December 17, one day before their Club World Cup semi-final. As per Sky Sports.

Yep - Klopp set to play the kids in the domestic cup game, having assured the EFL that his team will be broadly in line with that in previous rounds, with the first-team squad going to the Club World Cup semi, less the likes of (maybe) Milner and Keita, who will play at Villa and then fly over for the second CWC game.

Makes sense, especially if the players have been playing in the previous rounds. I assume that one of Klopp's coaches will take on managerial duties as I expect he will be out there for the CWC.

Interestingly* fans will be able to attend both games if they wish - and with a reasonably full nights' sleep. A flight from Birmingham airport at 7am the morning after the Villa game will have fans landing in Doha three hours before the Club World Cup semi final kicks off.

As would some fans for any team in that position

As to the LC think a Leicester v Villa final could be good bet depending on how seriously Man City take things

I'd assume they'll take it as seriously as they normally do, which has ended up with them winning 4 of the last 6 milk cups

League won. Now we have 6 or 7 months to get ready for the bragging.

These games between top clubs can be dull and cagey games but today was good to watch-even people like Keane and Murinho enjoyed it.
I have been saying for some time that this is a powerhouse side with a great work rate plus some tremendously skilful players.
The only question as I see it is whether the number of games played at that level of intensity will produce a team that is exhausted next April and May.

There is now good cover in most areas and in particular the engine room of midfield where Henderson, Fabinho and Wijnaldum have Milner, Keita, Oxlade and Lallana as back-up.

So today doesn't decide the title but a big marker has been laid down.

A cracking weekend made better by a treble on Reading, Leicester and those mighty reds.
The money can go on making sure that water no longer gets in above the front bay window.

Just seen the first goal...should have been a City pen...then it should have been a disallowed goal...handball in the buildup

The scousers have been lucky with injuries and decisions.
A full strength City side would probably have one that. The back up defenders for City are not as good.
Stones for example was and is, dreadful.

Lucky with injuries?

They've had their £50m+ goalkeeper out inured for half the season so far and had to sign West Ham's ex-third choice keeper as cover because their other keepers weren't fit either.

Gomez, who would be first choice alongside VvD if fit and in form, hasn't recovered from his injury yet and his replacement, Matip, was missing yesterday, having been injured for most of the last 6 weeks, meaning they're playing their 4th choice centre back.

Salah has been carrying an injury for most of the season but seems to be playing around it. He's not been at his best this season.

City were missing their best centre half and keeper yesterday, and have struggled for centre halfs this season because both Stones and Laporte got injured at the same time. Stones is though, in theory, part of their first choice back four but is, like Gomez, not back to his best after injury but because City didn't replace Kompany, and haven't blooded their young talent enough over the last couple of seasons, they're way too short in that department. That's not luck, it's bad management.

Was anyone else missing for City? Silva was in the bench, but I'm not sure if that was tactical or because he's carrying a knock or needed resting.

Pep's arrogance to think that you can go into a PL season with only 3 CBs (two of whom are Stones and Otamendi) is what will cost City the league this year. Not replacing (or even trying to replace) one of the best CBs of the past decade was a huge error; with Kompany there, it's hard to see City conceding the goals in the manner that they did.

Fair play to Liverpool, they took full advantage and deserved the victory. Can Leicester deny them though?

VAR can obviously get into the oxf*rd sea

As HB said, if City can't handle a couple of injuries given their essentially unlimited wealth then they need to look at their recruitment outside of the first 11.

Yesterday's result does not confirm anything but it would be a surprise for a team that hasn't tasted defeat in the league to lose 3 games more than those below them - has happened before though so who knows.

City in 4th is unexpected and with Chelsea (6 straight wins) next, they will need to be at their best not to lose more ground.

A very good summary Hoops.
As an aside, Kompany in the studio not only spoke better English than most English footballers but also was worth listening to.
He made the point that in his time one of the reasons why City didn't win games at Anfield was that they never could deal with the physical side of Liverpool's midfield.
It was the same yesterday with the likes of De Bruyne, Mendy, Gundogan and Rodri (and in previous seasons the wonderful David Silva) unable to cope with the energy and physicality of Liverpool's midfield 3 of Henderson, Wilnajdum and Fabinho, often joined by the equally hard-working Mane and Firminho.

One other thing-Sterling.
In recent days there has been talk of him going to Real Madrid, earning something like £500,000 per week and now being almost up there with Messi and Ronaldo in ability.
Really?

I know yesterday was a difficult game for him but considering he had a lot of the ball, especially late on, he wasn't IMHO that effective and certainly on that showing not entitled to be mentioned in the same breath as Messi and Ronaldo, two of the game's all-time greats.

Playing at Liverpool with Suarez and Coutinho and then at City alongside their great attacking players he gets so many chances it is no wonder he is up amongst the top goalscorers-IMHO he is not a very good finisher but, with his pace, he does get into good finishing positions.
A good player but still a long way off being great.
