Bowen, Sack? Yes or no?

by WoodleyRoyal » 22 Jul 2020 22:47

Bowen under increasing pressure and fans are getting on his back. Hob nob decides. Should we send Bowen back up stairs and get a new manager in for next season? Or should we stick with him?

Tentatively yes if there's a more experienced manager available who can run the club on a shoe string budget and who's allowed a say in the players who are brought to the club then I think it's worth considering a change.

Otherwise no

This may be controversial but I'd take Brian McDermott back right now. He'd be a good man to get in if it's true that we'll be running on a much lower wage budget. He did a great job at keeping us competitive on a shoe string. Even if we finish 12th for 2-3 seasons and lay the foundations of a squad that will compete when we can invest more and maybe poach a better manager. It won't happen though.

Assuming In means yes then that’s how I have voted. However if he gets off to a bad start next season he will be gone very quickly.

He should at the very most be moved back to the DoF role and a new manager comes in who has experience of both the Championship and working with budget constraints.

The club is a shambles. He kept us up comfortably

It’s not even close to being a debate

It doesn’t. He asked in or out in the title and then yes/no was whether he should get the sack or not.

Ftr, I voted no at this stage. Give the man a window and a couple of months at the start of a new season at least.

It is, he isn't a football manager. Pretty obvious and you're massively in the minority amongst the wider fanbase. Enjoy being wrong.

And yet with a shite overpaid squad He took us from bottom to comfortably safe

Clear out the wasters, reset and give him a chance

He should stay so agreed on that. However his record is poor since our win on New Years Day. Going into the new season on the back of three successive defeats is far from ideal. A poor start next season and he’s gone imo.

Is he though? Or is it a case of those who are unhappy are shouting the loudest and most frequently, when everyone else is happy just to move on to next season?

See it all the time on Twitter, there are many more comments/tweets when we concede/lose than when we score/win.

Last thing we need is further instability by bringing in a new manager.

We've been changing the manager at the drop of a hat for the last 7 years and they've been the shittest 7 years in a generation.

Nobody wanted Bowen in the first place, he has been under pressure from the moment he gave himself the job.
The need for change isn't based purely on results, it is about signs of progression, team selection, woeful substitutions, playing style. We will have a lot of young player in our squad next season, we need someone who has both experience of building a team around youth and dealing with financial constraints.

Step forward Nigel Adkins.

On the wider fanbase not want Bowen? The only way anyone could do at this stage and that is reaction on social media, very much a negative response to Bowen this evening and over the past few weeks.

We were 22nd and 3rd bottom when Gomes was sacked. Huddersfield were ahead of us and outside the relegation zone presumably on goals scored as they had the same points and same goal difference.
It’s not like we were cut adrift. We were in a worse position just after Gomes took over and he want given very long this season. Bowen needs a good start next season.
