Free transfers watch

by Simmops » 21 May 2021 12:20

Few decent Premiership and Championship players that are available on a free transfer, anybody you would fancy picking up that could do a job for us?

Also a thread to keep track of newly released players.

Arsenal: David Luiz
Man City: Sergio Aguero
Southampton: Ryan Bertrand

Birmingham - nobody I have heard of
Blackburn - Corry Evans, Lewis Holtby, Stewart Downing, Charlie Mulgrew
Bristol City – Hakeeb Adelakun, Nathan Baker, Famara Diedhou, Henri Lansbury, Adrian Mariappa, Jamie Paterson, Tommy Rowe, Marley Watkins
Cardiff – Junior Hoilett
Coventry – Amadou Bakayoko, Maxime Biamou
Huddersfield – Tommy Elphick, Alex Pritchard, Oumar Niasse
Luton – James Collins
Middlesbrough – Britt Assombalonga, Ashley Fletcher
Millwall – Shaun Williams, Frankie Fielding, Shane Ferguson
Norwich – Alex Tettey, Mario Vrancic
Preston North End – Louis Moult, Josh Ginnelly,
Reading – Sone Aluko, Sam Baldock
Sheffield Wednesday – Moses Odubajo,Adam Reach, Jordan Rhodes, Keiren Westwood
Watford – Achraf Lazaar, Carlos Sanchez, Jerome Sinclair

I wouldn’t have Aguero, too injury prone

Take the two from Reading. They could get us goals

A few other for the list (thought I'd add age in brackets as I lose track of how old players are (if I ever knew in the first place!))

Chelsea - Luke McCormick (22)
Everton - Mo Besic (28)
Leeds - Gaetano Berardi (32) and Pablo Hernandez (36)
Villa - Ahmed Elmohamady (33)

I imagine the club will have a certain profile in mind - "young and hungry" - but beggars can't be choosers

Is this like spring watch for free transfers. Get in a bush and watch them. Do we get one each to follow around? Or do we have to share.

The main criteria will be, those not expecting too much money.

Collins has already signed for Cardiff from the original list, so we can forget about him anyway.

McCormick is contracted until 2022, he still hasn't played above League One yet, albeit he's just had a productive season at Bristol Rovers. I can't really predict what Chelsea will look to do, they may try to sell him while they can still get a transfer out of him.

This was posted earlier in the week which is why I added McCormick:

Chelsea will let Luke McCormick go on a free with a sell-on. Championship clubs showing interest.

Have to admit I knew nothing about him so thanks for the background info.

Yeah absolutely fair, if we're looking for cheap punts he may be well worth a gamble, I have a feeling his level might not be where we as a club want to be though.

Jordan Rhodes has signed for Huddersfield, so that was probably our last chance to finally sign him and put those rumours to bed.

Never go back and all that but if he can find the form he had there first time, that's a great free transfer.

Just heard that Fernando Torres is set to announce his return to football soon.

https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/f ... s-20676643

Paunovic started his career at Atletico Madrid and played with some incredible players - Christian Vieri, Fernando Torres, Diego Simeone to name a few.

I wonder ... (He is 37 now though)
