His stepdad was Polish. His original surname is Hurst as in his company Hurst Publishing

Jagermesiter1871 Isn't Madejski of Polish heritage? Surely that's too foreign no? 100% British blood for me or nothing.

Yes the name Madejski is Polish although his biological dad was English. His Polish dad was effectively the man who brought him up and taught him to be the great Madejski from what I understand. Upbringing >>>>>> bloodline. From what I know he grew into what he is despite his English dad not because of him, which is why to this day he glorifies his Polish side with the surname and Reading fans to this day glorify a Polish man with the Madejski Stadium / stand.

The question is, is that English enough for us or too bloody foreigner still? Wasn't his mother foreign? That's a big red flag for me.

The fact the EFL don't conduct any sort of bloodline research or family tree analysis as part of the fit and proper test says it all about football ownership in this country.

I don't understand how a new owner will help? The current ones literally spent more than they were allowed to, they have been pretty decent to fans throughout and have respected the club's heritage.

I mean - I would prefer it if all clubs were owned by fans and we end this whole 'millionaire/billionaire toys' thing. I also wish they'd hire managers with proven experience rather than rolling the die each time. But - we could be doing far, far, far worse.

Spending more than allowed has lead to years of transfer embargos and a soon to be points deduction. Owners who spend what we have, and spend it more wisely rather than on excessively priced shit on long contracts would be preferable. Nationality irrelevant.

When SJM was the owner, many fans were saying we should spend more/ we will never get promoted on a shoestring/ where's all the money gone? etc. Now we have owners who are willing to spend big, there are many fans who say the opposite. It strikes me that a football club owner can't get it right! It would be nice to know how many posters on this forum lambasted both Sir John and the Dai's for running the club in opposing ways.

Snowflake Royal What's with all the borderline casual racism and xenophobia recently?

oxf*rd nationality and race. What we want is competency and there's absolutely no need or expectation that comes simply from being British.
Indeed, just look Ron Gourlay (British) who ran the club for the owners.

Perfectly decent CEO. Now working for WBA.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Owners pull all the strings.
