Brilliant group stage and no single group winner won all three games. My group stage first XI:

Pickford (Eng)
Dest (USA) Souttar (Aus) Yoshida (Jap) Hernandez (Fra)
Bellingham (Eng) Xhaka (Swi) Griezmann (Fra)
Dembele (Fra) Gakpo (Ned) Mbappe (Fra)

Casemiro and Richarlison from Brazil maybe. Could also have included Ziyech and Amrabat from Morocco, who really took the eye.

In some ways though I think questions need to be asked by FIFA as you may have more or less got rid of collusion in games but when France and Brazil both rest their “big guns” in the final game how exactly is that fair to teams in the other game who may need a result to go for them. Think there should be repercussions for sides opting to make lots of changes in a final group game.

Like what? You can't tell teams they can take a squad of players to a tournament and then punish them for using that squad.

Griezmann doesn't seem to be getting much love at all but he's been a standout in that squad

You can if the management are suddenly making changes to half (or more) of a starting XI for the final game when the starting XI has largely been the same for the previous 2 games esp. when it is obvious that most of those players not starting would back in for knockout games.

The US has been absolutely shit in the final 3rd, especially with finishing. Hopefully this will be fantastic experience and theyll be ready for a strong push in 2026! They are still young after all.

I think they’ve been alright. Just let down by their defenders as usual. I’m assuming Zimmerman suffered a stroke when he saw one minute added instead of the usual 15

Two very skilful sides. For the sake of the game, it’d be good if USA could pull a goal back

I think if USA benefited from a few more centuries of colonialism they would have won this game.. Liberia is nice but that’s really all. Most of Europe has Caribbean and Africa to get strong, faster, fitter players that perform better than the crackers

Yay, they did.

But then they let another soft goal in.
