I expect they thought the current chaps were worth a punt but none have sadly impressed so far - which might well be the fault of the management as much as anything (esp. with Doyle who showed well at Exeter & Crawley last year).

Also, you're requiring players who can hit the ground running. If any of our loanees were one of our youth players (possibly excluding Jacob), for example, they wouldn't be facing the same level of criticism. It's because people expect loanees to perform at first team level instantly where the problems lie.

Of course, we're also not the first choice for any of the better young talent from Premier League academies. They'll be wanting loanees to be playing in the Championship, so we're likely to only have the option of players with weaknesses in their game which need to be resolved through match experience. I'm not sure we're a club who'll persevere with them (whilst we're in League One) unless we have to or we think those issues can be resolved quickly.
