Royston Drenthe has completed his transfer to Reading Football club, subject to clearance from the Russian Football Association, after weeks of speculation about his signing. The Dutch player signs from Russian team Alania Vladikavkaz on a contract to keep him at Reading until 2015.

Midfielder Drenthe comes to Reading with quite a reputation both on the field and off the field. Despite already clocking up 26 years in age, he has only managed a career of 32 league starts. His former clubs include Real Madrid where he made two league appearances off the bench, Spanish side Hercules, and Everton. Real Madrid paid an insane 12 million pounds to Feyenoord for the player in 2007.

At Everton he spent the 2011/2012 season on-loan, making 27 appearances. He also managed 4 goals, 7 yellow cards and 1 red card during his spell at the Toffees. His highlight of last season was hitting a hat-trick in a 3-1 home win for Alania Vladikavkaz in the Russian Premier League. It's going to be very interesting to see how he does this season, and how he fits into the side, as Reading attempt promotion out of the Championship.
