New shock signing Yakubu will be in the squad this Saturday as Reading travel to Wolves in the Championship looking to build on a run of three games unbeaten. The Royals have made a slight recovery in the league and progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup since the arrival of Steve Clarke.

The arrival of striker Yakubu has caused plenty of interest throughout the football world and a mixture of reaction from Reading fans. Some fans feel he could be the player we need to give the side a boost and help us climb the table after an inconsistent season. Others are worried about the lack of his match action at a reasonable standard in recent years. It is a long time since Yakubu was banging in goals in the Premier League, but Reading remain hopeful he can pick up where he left but at a division lower. Yakubu seems likely to make an appearance from the bench depending on how the Royals are faring at Wolves. Clarke believes that Yakubu is match fit and ready to go.

Other than Yakubu, Reading should be essentially unchanged at Wolves. Full back Chris Gunter continues to make progress towards returning to action from injury, but Kelly is expected to continue defensive duties in his absence. Hope Akpan will be trying to get back into the side as he returns from injury. Anton "45 minutes" Ferdinand will be off-duty once more.

Wolves will be without regular goalkeeper Carl Ikeme for the first time this season after a major injury has ruled him out for up to two months. He suffered the injury after a tackle from former Reading player James Henry in training. Perhaps Reading born Henry is still on the payroll?

Reading are unbeaten in five games against Wolves. Before that we lost five games in a row against them, which included both legs of the Division One play-off semi final in 2003. Earlier this season we drew 3-3 at home with Wolves - Hector, Taylor and Murray were on the scoresheet for Reading that day.
