Alex McCarthy and Nicky Shorey have emerged as the most impressive players so far this season, according to votes placed for Hob Nob Anyone? man of the match. After every Reading game you can vote for your man of the match on the match report page. We love some good stats, so have put together a summary of all votes to date so you can see how many votes each player have picked up and how many times they've been awarded man of the match. McCarthy and Shorey head the table for both categories with Jason Roberts in third place.
McCarthy heads the table with three man of the match awards despite only playing eight of Reading's 13 games so far this season. He was forced to sit out last weekend's 0-0 draw with Norwich City after picking up a shoulder injury at the end of the QPR game. Federici was in goal for Reading's only clean sheet of the season but has his work cut out to match McCarthy's performances so far this term. Nicky Shorey has also done amazingly well after appearing to have only been signed as cover at the start of the season. Reading fans in general didn't expect Shorey to become first choice in the starting eleven, and then go on to be considered one of our best performing players.
