Re: BFTG - Baggies

Really good game I thought, as entertaining a 0-0 as I can remember - although much of that probably owed to the atmosphere which was fantastic. Small gripe - disappointed with the reaction to Loader both in the ground and on here after. The guy is 18 years old ffs, clearly has plenty of developing...

Re: Financial Fair Play

The eye popping thing to me is just how much we were paying Ron bloody Gourlay... Should also be noted how we spent almost £20m on 'new player registrations' (i.e. transfer fees) in the period. Most of that will have been on the likes of Aluko etc during the summer window after the play off final, d...

Re: Financial Fair Play

I can understand why we would be close....biggest squad in history, several players on renegotiated contracts and gates well down....in addition it looks like advertising revenue is well down. But to be close we'd have had to lose £39m combined in this season and the previous two. We made a profit ...

There is also the (strong) argument that the best way to defend a lead is to ensure you still have impetus going forwards. The moment you bring on a load of defenders you start inviting pressure.

Sure. But he was also CEO during the most successful period in our club's history. You can't just cherry-pick reasons to demonstrate incompetence It was a tongue in cheek, throwaway comment (the type HNA specialises in) that I didn't realise would generate quite so much fury, it certainly wasn't me...

Re: New Manager

If Howe hadn't have toed the line then he would have been fired. Of course he wasn't going to say anything. It also should be noted that nobody thought Zingarevich was as dodgy as he turned out to be. So Howe let us go the brink of administration because he was too scared of losing his job to stand...

Re: New Manager

It took 2 days after Stan was sacked for us to appoint Clement. It's now been a week with no manager and the rumours are we still don't have a shortlist. Glad that we finally have a competent CEO in charge. This kind of shit really winds me up. Nigel Howe is an absolute titan of of a businessman an...

Re: annual accounts 2018

apologies actually its MADEJSKI HOLDINGS PLC not the club... strange as the email i got was for the club https://i.imgur.com/x70TNCj.jpg That's the old name for Madejski Holdings. It used to be the holding company for the football club, before it sold all it's shares in the club in 2015. The holdin...

Re: New Manager

Plenty of good options out there, Jokanovic would be a good appointment but can't see him coming here, I like Warburton too and he's probably the most realistic of the bunch. However wouldn't it be absolutely wonderful for us to go back to the 'Reading way' and get someone young and up'n'coming from...

Re: Nigel Howe appointed new CEO

Isn't it interesting how high profile the role of CEO seems to be now.

Back in the day, 90% of the fanbase wouldn't be able to pick Nigel Howe out of a line-up, and now some people are celebrating his return like we've just signed a 30 goal a season striker.

Re: Season 2018/2019

winchester wrote about Besiktas:- "They probably shaded it but no shame in that up against genuine CL quality". Did Besiktas put out their first team? No and some notable absentees. That being said they still had a lot of quality starters and on paper their team was easily good enough to ...

Re: Season 2018/2019

Managed to watch the majority of the game on a dodgy stream. It was a really good, high tempo game against high quality opposition who for the majority of the game we went toe-to-toe with. They probably shaded it but no shame in that up against genuine CL quality. Scattergun thoughts as follows: - M...

Re: Sam Baldock

The issue for these people is that he's not got a sexy foreign name or profile. If his name was Baldockinho and he was coming over from the Ukranian Second Division they'd probably be much more excited. But because he's experienced and English it's 'underwhelming'. Fortunately we don't let these pe...

Re: Sam Baldock

His stats do not lie. He scored 18 goals in 81 games for Brighton. Nothing to do with his name, what a ridiculous comment. Like I said he works hard and will get the odd goal here and there but he's not a 15-20 goal a season striker we need. For the fee we are paying Brighton we could have got a ve...

Re: Sam Baldock

Baldock's stats at this level speak for itself. He'd be a decent signing. Some of our fans are clearly living in cloud cuckoo land if they think we can sign better after the miserable season we had last season. We are not even close to being as a attractive draw as we were 12 months ago! 18 goals i...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Croatia (n) sponsored by two big badges

Southgates niceness was his downfall last night. Didn't utilise his squad and subs properly. I think our lack of midfield options was probably more the cause of our downfall to be honest. I don't agree with a few of the selections or substitutions, but I'm not sure why you'd suggest it was down to ...
