Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2024/25

Would be interesting to see the stats for our Academy, gut feel says we produce more 20+ game players but that may be way off. You would think a Cat 1 academy attached to a non PL club is going to push more players through. I doubt we do, memory skews these things, for every player you can name who...

Elm Park Kid
blythspartan Heard a rumour of Spurs at home, which would drum up some excitement.

19th July.

That would be an early friendly for Spurs with the season not starting until 15th Aug or so - would be a good game but they will likely bring a mix of youth and first team.

Re: Rumour- Chem Campbell permanent

Played 76 games totalling 5044 mins at L1 level. In that time, he is involved in a goal every 336 mins, so once every 3.5 games approximately. That isn't too bad at all and with plenty of time to improve those numbers. On a free, it is a bit of a no brainer for me. Yes he will disappear in matches o...

Re: Pre Season games 2025/6

morganb Basingstoke, Thatcham and Portsmouth all on 26th July!?

I would guess...

1st team v Pompey
U23s v Basingstoke
u18s v Thatcham

Given the date this is the "big" home friendly for the summer as it is the weekend before the season starts.

Re: Joel Pereira

Likely means nothing but appears he is on holiday with Wing at the moment - clearly a close relationship there which may sway decisions if money offered isn't wildly different elsewhere. This. Wing is very highly thought of by both players and management alike. He is key, which is why they wanted h...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Perhaps I overestimated the power of the new owners, but I'm surprised we haven't announced any OOC players signing the dotted line yet. Just an observation. Not "Couhig Out". Could be a number of reasons - some will have declined naturally, others will have indicated that they will sign ...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Quite surprised by that. But a good opportunity for him. I’m sure we will replace him well. Would imagine Hunt et al will have known for a while that he intended to go and work with Mason if he got the WBA job - expect he was on a pretty low wage and only really came in to help out a mate. Expect t...

Re: Jamie Gittens to Arsenal - are we entitled to compensation?

According to this site: https://www.parsalaw.com/fifa-player-transfers/ Transfer fees are usually not disclosed but can be in the millions (reportedly they have been as high as €222 million), so solidarity payments will vary. But to recap, solidarity payments are determined by: withholding 5% of th...

Re: Jamie Gittens to Arsenal - are we entitled to compensation?

Looks like former Reading youth product Gittens is on his way to Arsenal from Bayern. Would we get any sort of sell on fee/ Compensation? He went to city from us before going to Bayern, so probably not? But People on Twitter are saying we might, as the sell on/compensation can span across multiple ...

Arne Slot's assistant Johnny Heitinga leaves the club to become the new Ajax boss - two years after an initial six month spell in charge there. Rumour mill in overdrive as to his replacement - noting that Steven Gerrard isn't going back to Rangers. FSG appear to be FSG-ing the Wirtz transfer. Liver...

Re: On this day......

The sliding doors moment when Karacan hit the post adds some mustard to Swansea for me vs Huddersfield when both teams should have lost as the game was so bad. Yep, if the Swansea player hadn't got a stud to it, it goes in - suddenly its 3-3 from nowhere and we would have gone on to win that. The b...

Brogue Pereira Has signed a new deal

Not sure we can trust you these days

If this is true, and the tweet from Alec Lundberg suggests that it may well be, then this is fantastic news. There are not many better keepers in L1.

Brogue Been told Jayden Wareham has signed the contract.

Any news on Pereira and Mbengue? Feel like they're the most likely to receive better offers.

Some people playing the ITK game on X are cryptically suggesting we will get confirmation of Mbengue signing today.

No mention of for which club though.

Re: Speculation - Nathan Lowe

He made 10 apperances for Stoke after being recalled from Walsall - I will be amazed if he goes anywhere on loan next season - at least pre-Xmas. Personally, I wouldn't use a loan on a striker unless we have absolutely no choice to do so - goals are key and a loan striker can give you a good season...

Re: Who do you want in the first home and away games?

All depends on the kick off time. Last year all opening L1 fixtures kicked off at 5:30pm on the Saturday so if the same scheduling applies you'd like anyone at (H) or an Orient/AFC Wimbledon (A) for an all day drinking session in London prior. Interestingly* L1 and L2 start a week before the Champi...

Re: Who do you want in the first home and away games?

Two ways to look at the opening home game - you either want an "easy" game to hopefully get a decent win on the board - so L2 play-off winners probably the best shout there or you want a game you can really put down a marker in if you win. So Wimbledon or Plymouth for me. First away game -...
