Re: Rival Watch

I’d complain about the thread being off topic but it hasn’t been on topic for three years.

Re: Rumour- Lewis Gibson

Seems this one is actually happening supposed to sign early next week. A left footed centre back isn’t easy to find and I think it’s a big risk insisting with Holmes and McIntyre as backups and allows us to adopt a 3 centre back system when we need to. I don’t think we should be considering him as ...

Re: BF I follow Barnsley

Last man is neither irrelevant (as Ian initially said), nor is it the be-all and end-all (as pundits make it out to be).

I think Ian’s actual point was that this was one of those cases where a foul by the last man didn’t, in his view, deny an obvious goal scoring opportunity.

Re: Rumour - Perry Ng

 Find me an academic source that isn’t aimed at a primary school audience that claims there are five vowels. Vowels and consonants aren’t arbitrary categories, they are linguistic terms to do with how open your airway is when you make a sound. Letters represent these sounds. Yes, there are wor...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (h) sponsored by a trip down t'pit

Yiadom injured again, hasn't he missed every game Reading have played against Barnsley since he left them? Chance for Araruna to step up... Yiadom seems even more injury prone than Joao. I like Araruna but still think we need more cover in that position given the frequency with which Yiadom appears...

Re: Rumour - Perry Ng

The “y” in “Perry” is a vowel. REALLY? I thought a-e-i-o-u were the vowels. Don’t you live in Wales? A vowel is a type of sound, not a type of letter, despite what Countdown will tell you. In English, Y is usually a vowel, representing a sound like “ee” (as in “McNulty”) or “i” (“McIntyre”) as well...

Re: Rumour - Perry Ng

Linden Jones' Tash I know nothing about him.
But I'm a fan of players with limited numbers of vowels in their name.
Is 1 vowel a record?

The “y” in “Perry” is a vowel. But no vowels in the surname is probably a record (unless one of those letters does function as a vowel).

Re: Rumour - the return of Pele

I mentioned a young Chelsea player on here the other week who has made just one League Cup appearance. At the time I was told that he was on £20k per week-yesterday I learned that he is actually on £40k per week at age 18. So the Lewis Baker figure may well be right. They should be forced to donate...

No access to toilets makes it impossible for me to attend anyway, so if that’s true then my other complaints are moot. Where have you read that? This seems to suggest that there will be additional facilities: Try to maintain social distancing when using the toilets as far as possible. You must foll...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (h) sponsored by a trip down t'pit

I agree with that bench. I so want this to be the post selected for printing in the I newspaper. Sadly I dont think they usually choose poking fun at typos. The formatting is the big issue. There was a time when we could have fielded a bench of Bacuna, Jaakkola, Obita, Gunter, Tiago, Aluko, and Mo ...

Re: BFTiFollow - Luton (h) - Carabao Cup

Puscas’s hold up play in the first half won a lot of plaudits, but that’s all forgotten after a poor second half. Contrastingly Tetek barely had a sniff in the first half (understandable given age and experience), but is winning loads of praise for one moment of magic in the second half. Seems to be...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h) sponsored by Dean Morgan

For me the problem was not Aluko (he had a very solid game) but the front three as unit were dire and looked like they didn't want to be there. As long as he plays at this standard, Aluko deserves to be on the bench in the league There was enough going into the box to think each one of them should ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h) sponsored by Dean Morgan

R8ings: Southwood 7 - fine, some good saves Araruna 7 maybe could have done more to block the cross for the goal? Holmes 8 MOTM commanding McIntyre 7 solid enough, a few questionable passing decisions Bristow 6 - has some flair but was beaten for the goal and made a few poor decisions Watson 5 - one...

Yep happy with this - although of course would be happier if my ST also bought me iFollow access  I know people don’t like me banging on about supporter’s rights and so forth but I was a little put off by this in the FAQs: All tickets purchased will be strictly non-transferable and will inclu...

Re: Dave's i Newspaper award 20/21

I spend months coming up with pithy sound bites to catch their attention and they choose that mediocre shit  Olise is obviously a very different player to Meite (a creator rather than a scorer, small and technical rather than big and quick) but they’re both left-footed players who can come ins...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Luton Town (h) sponsored by Dean Morgan

Whilst winning does breed winning, try telling that to Steve Coppell, who would routinely change entire squads for League and FA Cup games, and it didn't do us much harm  Well precisely. Changing the team doesn't have to necessarily seriously hurt your chances of progression. Iirc didn't we n...
