Re: Ex Players

Anyone seen Anton Ferdinand’s new documentary?

Aside from his terrible injury record he was one of the best defenders I have seen in a Reading shirt.

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

My mind must be playing tricks. Wasn’t McD’s diamond basically 4 Cms shoved in a midfield whilst Stam played 4-3-3 with 2 out and out wingers in G and Beerens? Both men used a variety of formations including 4-3-3. McDermott II is best remembered for the diamond but it was neither the main formatio...

Re: Ejaria`s body language.

For as long as he genuinely wants to play for us which doesn’t appear to be the case given he waited so long to join us and his work rate is much better nowadays couldn’t care less. I think he knows full and well we are the only club that truly believed in his potential and helped develop him. :| H...

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

True - but the football we played under Stam was not "great" and absolutely not in the "Reading way". I think the view on Clarke is based slightly in hindsight on his subsequent successes. Stam’s football philosophy was the same as Eamonn Dolan and David Dodds, Brendan Rodgers a...

Re: January window

I’d say the plan is not promotion this season, although we’ll give it a go. I think the plan is to establish a tight group of players bought into a way of playing in order to be real contenders the following season. Unless we finish this season we’ll adrift of the top 6 I can’t see the owners wanti...

Re: BFS - Bristol City (H)

I’ll still defend Stam quite happily. Yes he made mistakes but he also did a lot right, got us playing great football in the Reading way and got results. I don’t blame him for the mess Gourlay got us into and a lot of the decline in the second season was out of his control. Think we should have stu...

Re: How good is Yakou Meite?

Thank God that the club actually spotted the potential in Meite this time, unlike the situation with Antonio. Indeed, the club obviously had no idea what Antonio could do, they only plucked him out of non league obscurity because he had a funny name.... I saw him play in a friendly at Kingston befo...

Re: Ex Players

He was never really a good fit there. Think someone like Nigel Adkins would do a really good job for Sunderland. Promotion specialist and experience of working under a tight budget. Just shows what an utter shit show Sunderland are. League 1 is a difficult league to get out of, not withstanding you...

Re: Ex Players

According to the media in Luton, Osho apparently chose to not re-sign with Reading as he didn’t see a pathway for him at the club. Rather odd considering that he was a pretty good “1st choice” right back for the last 9 games or so plus given the ongoing issues with Yiadom’s injury and the departure...

Re: Omar Richards Contract

This lad has the potential to be one of our greatest ever LB’s imo. All those years ago when we signed Gunter + McLeary for our right wing the plan was clearly they would be our long term solution on that side. Omar should be our long term solution to build our left side - he is so in tune with Moo...

Re: January window

For me the ideal would be someone in the mould of Joe Mills - cheap reserve left back who could also play as an occasional left winger.

Re: How good is Yakou Meite?

Agree with this, the 3rd goal from yesterday shows that. Has the intelligence to run down the line and try to run the clock out but then realises that Joao is unmarked in the box ready to put the game beyond doubt. I agree, but I'd also say it's where we've seen the most progression in the past yea...

Re: Ejaria`s body language.

I wouldn’t read too much into it. I’m generally not keen on reading too much into body language. But I think Ejaria’s maybe just a little more introverted than most players.

Re: January window

Would need to be crazy money to accept key players leaving in January. Very unlikely we’d get an adequate offer for Richards, and as he’s our only left back I’d rather hold onto him and lose him for nothing in the summer if he won’t sign a new deal. Losing Olise would be tolerable if the fee was rig...

Re: Tallest Reading team

Holmes = 1.85m (6 feet 0.8 inches) Richards = 1.85m (6 feet 0.8 inches) Meite = 1.84m (6 feet 0.4 inches) . I’m guessing 1.85m is the default height because no way Holmes and Richards are the same height  And Richards taller than Meite? Would guess Richards is more like 1.77m and Holmes ...
