Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

Rob followed me last night on twitter 8) and we’ve been chatting over PM. We are working on a face to face where I can put some of this stuff to him. Less Louisiana days and more grass roots days… https://i.ibb.co/jkpLrK1g/IMG-0692.jpg As you have been quite outspoken in your opposition to him in t...

Re: Drop the ‘Royals’ nickname?

so if we go with something like "The Techies" to reflect the predominant industries of the area, does that mean we can chant:

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

Finally someone who gets it ! Unfortunately, LR will be judged by RC on points accumulated this season and not entertainment rating.... i think tickets sold will also have a bearing. Serious Question: do League One managers have explicit KPIs linked to Tickets Sold? I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if...

Re: Play-off/relegation watch.

Saturday is a must win game no excuses . Squad has only a couple of injuries draw no good , have to attack both halves can not have the dross from the last 3 games Is it? What if we lose? Not much really, we're not in "must win" territory for the rest of the season. Would be nice if we ma...

Re: What do people expect from a football team and manager

I believe short attention spans and the desire for instant gratification are to blame for how we feel when we don't have results + performance + effort + team connection... Some ppl are saying they would swap results for a young team with 'connection'... I don't buy that - ppl forget how quickly bad...

Re: Untrue truisms

This is not to dismiss the claims of any other clubs currently at L1 level, but....

The financial footprint of Reading FC which requires a net spend of ~£10M per season just to stay afloat means we are too big for L1. ..

QED, we're too big for League 1...

Sneak into the play offs with a late run - win the semi finals commandingly and onto Wembley... The morning of the L1 PO final, Dogwood Holdings announce a deal in Principle to sell the Club to a Group that also owns an NFL franchise who want to deliver European football and have a 10 year plan to g...

Re: Club to be sold again ?

Chronicle headline says investors have approached the club with a view to buying. No further details. Presumably if there’s a profit in it the current owners woukd be interested in selling. But how has value been added such that someone who wasn’t interested a short while ago now fancies paying mor...

Re: Kadan Young

Sounds like his head might be in the same place that Michail Antonio's was when he went on loan from us to Sheffield Wednesday - desperate to play and make an impression, so dropping down a couple of divisions to somewhere he knows he can get good game and hopefully contribute to a team looking for...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (a)

Just thinking about it, think Ritchie had one of his better performances. Works well cutting in onto his right foot to whip an inswinger to the far post, while Roberts can boom outside and whip an outswinger. But he’s definitely a sub, not a starter. If the Internet is to be believed, Richie is our...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (a)

Absolutely detest that stupid cr@ppy drivel national radio programme that slam dunks itself across all the BBC local radio stations and wrecks the local post/pre match coverage as it doesn’t take into account different kick off time that clubs might have. yup, it’s sh1t, meanwhile talking BB...

Re: One more in.

Does anyone have any clue as to when Andy Rinomhota is going to be playing in the first team? Has he eloped with JJ? Seems a bit odd for a cash strapped club to sign a player, have him play 10 mins and then dissappear... (Notwithstanding his personal issue - I've got no idea about that - lack of co...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

They mention they were expecting bigger attendances. I think they didn’t realise just how battered and bruised the fan base was after all the shit we’ve had to deal with. Compound that with shooting his mouth off - over promising and underdelivering in the transfer market - that didn’t help. If we ...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

So for absolute clarity - 'we put in £1M almost every month' means the club is losing around £12M/annum at the current rate of income vs expenditure... Please correct me if I have misinterpreted the statement[/quote] That's how I interpret that statement. Worth noting our previous accounts (2023-24)...
