Re: BFI Follow Middlesborough

Be little point in restarting the leagues until fans are allowed back in. Just not the same. Feels more like a series of preseason friendlies. We`ve been shit at home for years, what makes you think fans would make any difference? Just looked the stats up. If we lose to Swans that'll be 12 home def...

Re: Rival Watch

Fair play. Oxford looked by far the more accomplished side from what I saw but good on Wycombe True. True also Stewart MOM - magnificent. Pox goal utter jam but they were the better side. Fluffed chances. Brilliant. 'We'll never play you again.' 19 years and counting. Looks like the three Champ rel...

Too right.

Not hopeful, though. Ox have a nasty habit of being lucky in big games. As I see it anyway.

Re: Back from I Follow Luton

Has anyone mentioned the symmetry of these results 50 years apart?

March 1970 - Luton 5 Reading 0
July 2020 - Luton 0 Reading 5

I've waited a bloody long time for that. Eat my shorts, Macdonald - you only got three goals.

And Smith is still around? Presumably too old for Academy and not many trees pulled up elsewhere?

Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Disappointed to see Ben House go, given how few goalscorers the Academy produces.

Poor lad got on the Academy Board merely for a five minute micro-cameo in a cup tie before being sacrificed when we had a red carded defender.

Re: Home form

I'm sure like me I bet you were thinking at least I wasn't there to watch that debacle last night. Lets face it since the play off final season our home form has been dire. I don't go for this we have crap support rubbish it's really no worse than any other ground in this league and prior to the St...

Re: Rival Watch

tidus_mi2 Gonna throw a hypothetical at you all, fans who have actually experienced the Reading - Oxford rivalry, would you want them to win the play-offs to get that rivalry back next season?

No. 20 years isn’t long enough. Come on Fleetwood or Wycombe.

Re: Championship to return

So, the plan is to play Tues- Sat-Tues and have continuous testing. What if on the Monday there's a positive test on a player? There's been contact in the Saturday game so presumably those two clubs (say A and B) are now in quarantine and can't play on the 2nd Tuesday. Therefore neither can their sc...

Re: Championship to return

First time a Reading game has kicked off at 6pm on a weekday? Unlikely. Pre floodlights, midweek games were played in the early evenings in Aug/Sep and April. Back then 'everyone' knocked off work at 5pm, cycled home for a quick sandwich and mug of tea, cycled to Elm Park, game over by 8pm, home in...

Re: 25 years ago today

Oh yes, oh yes...it would’ve been like Reading v Coventry ‘88 every game Were those rumours floating around at the time really true? about us playing ‘home games’ up in W London (Loftus Road wasn’t it?) LOL....but we were still unaccustomed to that ‘big time’ big new league weren’t we?....gullible?...

Re: 25 years ago today

Deffo my worst Reading defeat.Wonder what would have happened if the penalty had gone in ?Would Bolton have thrown in the towel. When the 4th went in;I upped and left, only to sit in the car park as the cars were parked nose to tail.I therefore missed Quinny’s goal.Driving out of the ground,I went th...

FiNeRaIn
RoyalBlue If it's 'Super Fan' then Blackie and his coat(s) has to be in the running. Not sure how he fits with the definition of 'charismatic' though.

Is he still alive? I remember him!

Still alive, still every game, coat newish and ‘improved’, probably coat v2.0.

10 most iconic non-football Madstad moments

Inspired by the mention of those nodding helicopters - see moronic fan thread - here's a couple to get going with. FIVE BEST MOMENTS 1, The nodding helicopters and the one hell of a noise they made 2. June Whitfield's rendition of 'Terry and June' from the centre circle v Stoke 2000 3. Kingsley gett...

Re: The most charismatic/moronic fan we have or have ever had

Amazingly, nothing found on the internet to prove this story about the sea king and the abseil into the ground. Nothing about the 2 helicopters either but I have a photo of that. My God, weren't the noise and the vibrations from the two copters absolutely hair-raising?! Brilliant. And now we've got...

Re: Season Ticket Refund?

I've been very critical of owners and business management in the past but I really don't think that the club under the Dais has been exploiting us at all. Just look at the initiatives that they've introduced and paid for out of their own pockets. Reduced income will lead to reduced money available ...

Re: Exeter away August 1990

Anyone remember this day? We hired a minibus...happy days.3-1 win. Yeah, first day of the season, we had Senior, Maskell and Moran upfront for the first time together, I think they all scored, Exeter were Div 4 champs and hadn't been beaten for ages at home. Lovely sunny day, great pub and fish and...

FINAL SQUAD AND MUCH IMPROVED BY SUGGESTIONS FROM THE MASSIVE Criteria - players of significance that the general footballing public would probably be surprised to learn had played for Reading. All league match starters - no George Bests or Daley Thompsons friendly apps. - ideally cameo careers 1, J...

oldebiscuit West Tip 1986 Grand National winner made an appearance in one game at Elm Park.

Thought that was Foinavon in 1966? If you're right we'll have 'em both as mascots.
