Re: The Academy/Development squads watch thread 2015//16

Any news of BEN HOUSE?

I liked him. Unusually for our youth team he looked like a natural goal scorer. Went to Swindon last season, didn't score, fair enough, but haven't heard of him since.

Re: MATCHWATCH : Plymouth Argyle (a) sponsored by Glen Little

Only 3 league games in September, I would expect a much stronger side the next round. Me too, especially if we draw Oxford. Don't take chances with that. Selection gamble tonight paid off. Senior subs and late goals got us through. I couldn’t disagree more. We have some excellent young players who ...

Delighted with that line up. Well done Gomes. Feck the cup, let's smash Charlton. +1 Unlike others I never had a problem with Steve Coppell's approach to cup games. We have bigger fish to fry and these players need 1st team football. Nine changes. Utter bollox. Either take it seriously or don’t ent...

    Re: BFTG - Cardiff

Big thing for me was that we stood up to Cardiff physically , grappled all the way. Much stronger than usual side. Cardiff didn’t expect that and after 15 mins didn’t know what to do. Our better forwards came into play and we won comfortably but neutralising their physicality was key. Same again at ...

Odd considering most of the times we have looked truly dangerous this season have come when Swift has been involved in the build up. It’s a difficult one because Swift has been more creative so far this season. No issue with him in for Ejaria but we really do need Morrison in for this one as Cardif...

The point is the name on his shirt is Gimes so it is entirely reasonable to call him that. Any opportunity to have a go at Tim though... Did you not hear his reasoning? Nothing to do with his shirt, everything to do with Tim deciding he wasnt good enough for the name everyone else calls him. Out of...

The only other cup game resulted in a 2-1 FA Cup win for Reading at Loakes Park back in January 1977 Was there - I believe it was the last goals Robin Friday scored for us Yep - but was December 1976. Remember going on the coaches and something odd happened on the way - but can't remember what. Cue...

The Hope Akpan example too, above, showing me that playing against a team and then joining them probably isn't as rare as I thought, maybe scoring is though! Edit: Akpan signed at the same time at Nick Blackman - there can't be many other instances of a Premier League side debuting two players at t...

Reading U23 won 2-1, with goals from Popa and Odimayo. Roeselare had a player sent off near the end, and again Reading failed to score against 10 men (but didn't concede either). Reading line-up: Andrésson (46′ Boyce-Clarke), Watson (63′ Elva-Fountaine), Osho, Odimayo (46′ Burley), Medford-Smith, E...

We could have a forward line of Meite Barrow Boye - just trips off the tongue, even if it's bit too Millwall.

    Re: Next seasons kit choice?

Out of interest what was Reading’s away kit in the 60s and 70s, presumably in those days away kit changes for lower league sides were very rare and there certainly wouldn't have been anything like a “reveal” in the local media. Also when was the first replica shirt you could buy for Reading and how...

    Re: Pre season tour

Saw out a narrow 1-0 win. Which I can’t recall we did all last season. I took from that we’re aiming to play much quicker and closer together in the middle of the park, rely on speed up front and rely on full backs for crosses. As for danger upfront we might as well have two old ladies with charity ...

    It’s 5/6 time!

15 to go and possibly our best ever result in Spain!

After the goal we were well on top for 10 mins but I think the tension is getting to them.

Commentator calls McIntyre Thomas and I think he thinks Loader is Obita. I’m still hearing Liam Driscoll 23? Or is it my ears.

Barrett had a shot on 51.

    Pen for us.

    Obita scores apparently.

    They’re on top now.

We had only one real goal threat, header wide from Meite.

We’re relying on quick breaks up the middle.

Think I saw a back three with McIntyre in midfield towards th end of the half. ??
