Re: Ex Royals

JedMaxwell Taylor Swift was born in West Reading, PA.

Are we sensing a Sheeran / Elton / Robbie Wiiliams opportunity here? Does West Reading PA have a Battle Hospital?

Re: Where we going next season then?

RG30 4 direct train routes from Reading I counted (Exeter, Plymouth, Cardiff, Stockport).

London?

Get a bus to Leyton from Padders?!
More realistically, tube from Waterloo to Wimbledon.

Re: Ex Royals

No 'new' news as it were haha but just wanted to tell everyone about the time I met Bobby Convey and had a prolonged conversation with him on our favorite club: First, he is the main reason I became a fan. Back in 2005, I had just graduated from High School a few months earlier and went to a colleg...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

Worth noting that Narin the Thai is out - he was only here for the car park! There's some convoluted scheme whereby the car park is shared between four different companies and RFC, in Dai's time, had a share (c25%) of one of the companies. Reading Asia Holdings, Great Shine etc ...? Redwood has said...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

My first XI Pereira Abfrega Mbengue New bloke (or Dorset if we can’t afford one) Ryan (assuming he’s recovered. He’s first team ready, would have been in this season but for injury) Wing Savage Elliott (assuming fit. If not move Knibbs back) Knibbs (assuming we can’t afford three new forwards) Or Me...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (h)

Today for me was all about a full house claiming back our Reading. Good flag there and hats off to STAR and SBDW for all the work put in over the past two seasons. Didn’t think for a moment that Orient would screw up their chance. Play offs and promotion too early for our current squad. Next year is...

Re: Goal of the season 2024/25

The Wing team goal v Wrexham for me too.

I'm struggling to recall any Reading player scoring so many goals from distance as Wing.

John Murray hit a fair few. Quinny too. But Wing must have hit a dozen in two seasons.

Re: Predictions for this weekend

Orient to win quickly and easily.

Reading, meh, 1-1 maybe. Rather that than losing out on GD.

PS I'm really poor at predictions.

Re: why don't more people from Ethnic Minorities support Reading?

I was at the West Ham U18s match last week and at the Tilehurst Charity Cup thing at Madstad a while back. Both games had a significantly higher proportion of black fans.

Dont know quite what that suggests. A comparative lack of identification with the first team? The club as a whole?

Re: MATCHWATCH : Lincoln City (h)

I just don’t know what Noel expects from a forward line of Campbell Wifi Camara but I don’t expect anything positive. Same as at Northampton, we create very few chances, the two wingers do zilch, then Wifi moves to LW which works very occasionally and Wareham battles without much effect. Why not sta...

The parachutist ‘Roman-candled’ a bit before hitting the ground (at great speed) at EP The grey matter fades a bit over the years, but can remember being pissed watching it all and cat-calling (because I at that time could’ve done it better...honest)... ...was it the Donny ‘fancy dress’ game? ........

Re: Record Watch 2024/25

Burnley after another one of our records. They're 29 unbeaten. We hold the record, jointly with Liverpool, of 33 unbeaten in the second tier. Burnley have four to play so can only equal it this season.* *Unless they're already at 30 - I can't remember whether the commentator on Friday said 29 befor...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Wycombe Wanderers (h)

Not much of a spectacle. Great result. Loving the last few chances to see Bindon-Mbengue. If only we had one half decent winger … Wifi is the nearest but only does his stuff once or twice a game. Has to play wide with Wareham in the middle. Get Elliott back in midfield, push Knibbs to RW, we’d have ...

Sutekh I remember when WSC used to be quite edgy and different.

I remember when Football Monthly and Shoot used to be.

WSC still going, must be doing something right.

Jobi? Thought he quite unexciting as a winger, liable to cross into the crowd. Gimme Gilkes any day.

Re: Marcus Hahnemann > Shaka Hislop > Adam Federici

Shaka for me. Literally worth ten points in 94-95 season. Feds not top five. Best single performance- I’m drawn to hazy memories of Death away at Fulham Jan 1971. They’re going up, we’re going down. They battered us from start to finish. We had an unlikely lead from Malcolm Swain (as in Guthrie > Ev...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Exeter City (h)

It was a stinker. Looked like we were taking the win for granted after an easy first 15 and then we just lost any grip and bloody lucky survive for a nil nil. Agree Camara and Yiadom were pants, excuse the latter on his comeback. Ehib the only goal threat. Another team did a job on Wing. Garcia erra...

Re: Record Watch 2024/25

Well, whatever minutes Trafford is at, Death now only has the 4th tier record. It was a good run I suppose. Not quite that simple. The last match of the run, of which 5 minutes or so count in the record, were at the start of the following season, and in the third tier. How long did Death go without...
